Not really even a hater - the tC design is a basic, sporty, econo-car, with a design that is years old - not some new, glitzy, high-tech, expensive beast.

He just called it like it is.

What he doesn't see is the basic honesty and appropriateness of the design in it's market segment.

Parking a stock tC in amongst customized Porsches and such is bound to make it look a little unimpressive. (Of course you could probably buy five of the tCs for the cost of some of the cars shown...)

Well said Tomas...

The new tC is suppose to update the look a bit after all these years so it should be a refreshing reboot.

he didn't say anything about the cars design, looks, market strategies
or any of the other things some people may dislike about it or its drivers...

he stated it was strange to import a left hand drive car into japan.
and said nothing about the cars looks in any way.

really shows some people just wanted to say negative things
about the car and not really read the article.

There's nothing sick about that car. All it has is Enkeis and a RS1 lip. I was expecting to see this one.

Weird how they're both AP/WP.

Not sure you read the right part.

And I don't consider that hating at all. He stated a basic fact, the tC's design is not cutting edge. I don't see that as "hating."

Speaking of reading comprehension, Pete, his comments for the pictures are directly below each picture.

The one for the tC is:

And it wasn’t the only import from America that night – this was the first time I had ever seen a Scion. Not a horrible car to look at by any means but not exactly a cutting edge design either.
The one you refer to is about the LHD Toyota pictured above the Scion.

If you read down further in the comments to the page you will find...

The imported toyota convertible is called the Solara, only available in north america I believe. Unfortunately the only “sports car” you can get from a toyota dealership in north america. It is basically a Camry.. You get laughed at by everyone in Canada for driving one, because it as horrible to look at as it is to drive.
...explaining the referenced NA Toyota.

And also a reply by the original author...

Thanks for the info Anon; I wasn’t impressed by the Solara either – with a name like that who would be really?

What gets me is the “export and then re-import” line of thinking. Surely it isn’t just a case of trying to be the unique kid on the block?
...further confirming the reference to the pic above the tC.

What I was referencing in my short earlier post was what the original author, Adam, said about the tC, and also the further comment by Stingray clarifying for Adam the position of the tC in the American market, and reiterating that the Scion line is very intentionally at the least expensive end of the Scion-Toyota-Lexus spectrum.

Good article, awesome cars, I got to say that the Solara in the pic looks a lot better then the last gen that Toyota retired from production one or two years ago. And Adam, the Scion was not made to have a jaw dropping design, it was made to be a decent, sporty, simple, cheap and easy to modify in to crazy tuning creations, car for young people.
Perhaps your desire to personally paint me in the worst light possible for allegedly dissing the tC blinded you while you were puzzling out the linked page.

[/snark]

why would i paint you in a negative light? i dont remember a time on this
site that i ever attacked you or had a bad word with you? (even face to
face) actually i remember a time when i apologized for causing trouble and
still got banned deservingly.

reading comprehension...lol. i read the wrong paragraph... so i dont
think reading comprehension wasn't the issue. i now see it was referencing
the solara.

but if it makes you feel better i apologize

but still you making a direct assumption that i would try to smight or stain
your blindingly white and unsullied reputation on this site than again i
apologize.

and in my post did i say i was talking directly to you? did i say tomas or
you. i simply quoted your post but it no way implied i was attacking you in
any way. but used it as a "generalization" or to simply put the "haters"
to bed before they crept out of the woodwork.

but thats why i used the word "people" because i didn't want to make anyone angry. but i guess i still did an that's my bad.

so sorry tomas

but ultimately people are allowed their opinion, and if mine was out of line sir! i again apologize

sorry tomas i apologize if you felt i said something directly to you or about
you, although i dont know why i would feel the need to say anything not
directly to your face. that would be a really back handed thing to do (like
just as an example of some fictitious and made up scenario) say if i were to go on another forum and just talk mad !@#$% about a group of people and than later speak to them with a smile....

but i dont do that...some other people do. you and i obviously do not.

but if you can find a listing on "this site", or a time when i have verbally
assaulted you in person (face to face) than i will gladly apologize to you in
the open and in public.

and again with a smile i say i'm sorry

and i'm really confused about the anger here...totally in every way...
so again i apologize for the four millionth time of apologizing for being
wrong about something.

sincerely, oh and cant wait to see you on the annies pizza run man!!!!

so again sorry!!! i dont want any beef with the "burger king"!!! fun pun no insult intended......again sorry

OK, Pete, I guess we'll agree to ignore the diatribes elsewhere, and just focus on what is said on this site as you kept repeating above, even though we are still the same people no matter what site we are on.

Pizza.

Definitely well stated there. If you place a "middle class/common market" car next to one that fits into the "Exotic" catagory it's almost certainly going to make virtually any common/mid-class car look like a complete POS. And on top of that... some of the models that they produce are only intended to sell in Japan, and usually are more on the cutting edge in both technology and design.
