and don't compare us to european gas prices we may be lucky bastards but we've always had some of the lowest fuel prices of any and almost all of the industrialized nations.

for 87 octane chevron i'm paying about 4.49

and diesel is more than 5.09 anywhere you go up here

funny thing is fuel prices are CHEAPER in the bay area than they are in sacramento , totally backwards
its cheaper in the bay than Sacramento because the bay is closer to ports...

Hotbox05.....you really like all that double spacing? Man I had to scroll down half the page on my phone OYE.
Truthfully I dont see it coming back down under 3 bucks. Our country is so a$$ed up, its gonna have to do a major major overhaul of the economy, BUT at least we are'nt paying $9 bucks for a liter of petrol like the Euros are. So I cant complain too much....just no out of state trips for a while

Not sure if you've seen this before, but this site is updated often and is available in most areas to help find lowest gas prices:

You think gas is going to go below $3.00? LOL

I'll take that bet! Simple eonomics my friend. I mean I appreciate your optimism but $3.00 is a memory at this point.

Keep up the power of positive thinking though!

it will...if you knew simple economics my friend, you would know that the stock market will bring the price down....not drasticly, but it will bring the price down to about 2.50

simple economics...

so hotbox05's statement isnt all that farfetched.

peakoil+stockmarket=lower prices....its gonna keep fluctuating tho

And oh yeah we want a picture as proof.

thats a good one...gotta give you props for being creative buuuuuuut
change isnt gonna happen over night(within 5months)...its not possible unless everyone just completely stopped using fossil fuels for like a week. its projected that this is gonna happen within 1 to 2 years. prices will continue to skyrocket but they will eventually break aaaaaaand eventually fall back down.

Glad you apprecate the humor. I wish I could agree with you but truly the same thing was said when we breached $2, then $3, and now $4......I probably more than anyone really NEED it to go down because I travel for work. However historical trends just don't point in the direction of reversal.

I'll hope right along with you though!

i mean...it might but it might not happen you know? there are alot of contributing factors that play in this. for example minimum wage; everyone knows everything revolves around oil. if the price of oil goes up, so does everything else(cost of living). yea they have raised the national minimum wage....but it hasnt been enough to keep up with everything else. it has to go hand in hand for it to work. oil continues to reach record highs while wages stay the same.......which brings another factor: supply and demand and so on and so forth....historical trends dont point it towards the direction of reversal because its never been to this extreme

prices are going to go down a but like you said its going to take some time ,we will reach the 5 Dollar mark before things improve, and once things start going down it will not be below 3.50/ gallon. the days of 2.80 for a gallon are long gone..
the price of the dollar will be lower, meaning it will take more to buy the same
also, there will be less fossil fuels..

it all comes down to supply and demand

Barrel of oil just hit an all time high today, at 139.01. Give you some perspective on Barrel of Oil prices. yesterday it was 127.79. When we were just starting to hit gas prices at 3.85-4.00/gal it was at 110. Usually there's a bit of a delay at the pump when the barrels of oil go up. 5.00 a gallon this summer? Expect 5.50+.

The price is so bad that the dow went down 300 points just over that news alone.

Here's one for all our sakes

Shhhheeeh....I remember when gas was .97 cents a gallon....And they offered Full service. Now it 4 something, you pump it yourself and if you even consider asking for full service..Ahmed (Seriously Ahmed) has a tantrum and calls the police....Chevron station on State College.
Life is great. (How much were those Horsies Kirb??)
