Exhaust Situation

Exhaust Situation
So I just installed my brand spankin' new Tsudo N1 Catback system
thanks to the guys over at Speed Element Motorsports. So far, the car sounds
GREAT and it even looks GREAT.
Now, I have a few thoughts that I hope some of you may be able to help me
on. If you could, it would really be appreciated...
So my friend Mike who helped me install my new exhaust brought up some issues
about my new system. He mentioned that the Scion tC has something called a
Three-Way Catalytic Converter, which consists of a cat after the headers and
one after the S-pipe. The Tsudo exhaust eliminates the cat after the S-pipe.
Now here is what worries me...
He also said that I will get a $1,200 dollar fine, if let's say, the police pull me
over and notice my exhaust and question it's CARB status.
I thought it would be a simple fix-it ticket!?
Something where I could just take it off and put on my stock exhaust and show
them that I did "fix it" and not get a $1,200 dollar fine. Or is the fine only applied
to when you are taking a emissions test and they see that you're missing a cat?
I'm a bit confused so if anyone can clarify, thanks.
Sorry if this is a noob question, I just need to know.
Cause now I'm thinking of selling it off cause I can't afford a $1,200 fine
because I'm already a broke ___ college student.

i had a citation for my exhaust(zpi) but it wasnt checked as correctable on the ticket. CHP didnt sign it but i still swapped back to stock and took pictures of it to show the judge.
judge only asked me if i fix'd it already and i said yeah , showed pics and paid 10$ court fee.
it wasnt worth all the hassle. lol, i dont have my zpi anymore. im rocking greddy DT now =p

if the exhaust is really loud, then it will draw attention and if hte cop is an a-hole than he can give you a ticket like that.
i believe the ticket would be classified as gross polluter, seein as how you dont have a funcitoning cat.
however, most likely.. now i said most likely the cop will only give you a ticket for loud exhaust, unless he feels like being mean, then he can write you up for removing a catalytic converter, which is not only a 1200 dollar ticket, its a felony.

Well, with the exhaust on...
I keep the rpms under 2k in regular street traffic.
I don't drive like an idiot or accelerate fast so I'm hoping
that would also help me without being caught.

just keep your stock exhaust for safekeeping.
you just never know, even if u dont create(sound) the attention you still have the attention from behind because of how shiny your exhaust is.
theres local drag strips to go to feed the need
