That sucks, as far as the Broadway mirrors that is odd, but it could be like someone else said, because it takes up slightly more room in your vision and possibly because most are convex (or concave?) and are different than your standard mirror.
It messes with your depth perception and can make things seem farther than they are, more-so than a normal mirror I believe.

And I'll play devil's advocate about the Broadway mirror - Sure, it help's your view of the REAR, but it destructs your FRONTAL view.. Plus, if you know how to set your sideview mirrors right, you shouldn't have blind spots in the rear anyway. Mine are set perfectly, and I have no blind spots. I rarely look over when I switch lanes anymore.
P.S. - It helps to have friends of friends who are police officers. My front tint never came off when I got my ticket for it.
