yeah i just got a ticket on the freeway for speeding and my exhaust, and he also made me pop my hood and noted my intake and headers. he even took pictures of my intake and headers. so if the ref places are closed do i have to put my stock parts back on or something? im confused about this whole situation as well...

 

Ref stations are open now so yes you have to put your stock parts back on

 

make a appointment with the state ref and take the car but remove your I-H-E before going, i've seen you around a few times and it's loud enough to where a cop can just pull you over even if your not speeding. i know because went through the same thing until i got rid of my headers they stopped hassling me.

Well my court date was today, BUT since my court date was today, I was exempt from the State Ref. The conversation went like this: (exact wording)

Judge: Kirby Quinto
Me: Here
Judge: How's the Scion?
Me: It's all straight
Judge: So, if the baliff and a witness of the court inspects your car, it will be ok?
Me: yeah sure

we go outside. The baliff and the witness of the court look at my car, popped hood and everything. Then we went back in.

Baliff (Big **** Samoan): Car is in good condition
Judge: Kirby, 10 bucks and you are out of here!
Me: Can I make payments?
Judge: laughs........."Get Out Of My Courtroom".....laughs


So, yeah the Ref State bar has opened up today at 11am after I told my dad the good news. So I will be stock until they stop making FFF movies, or I move to a conservative city like Irvine, Laguna Beach, Beverly Hills, etc.....

 

Man I can totally see you saying that. I would be so frustrated with that BS. Sounds like one fix it ticket means the end of us all.

 

Ahaha, yeah i could see Kirby telling the judge the samething. Well looks like it went well for you and now i have to wait for mine which is on Nov 7, but i already have my state ref ticket from about 3 months ago but hopefully he'll be cool like yours was.

 

you might wanna call it in Cat. You dont want to go to court and have them tell you to reschedule your court date until you see the State Ref.

Yeah I find it funny that in a land that created hippies and LCD (not really) and a place known for it's weird cult like religions and liberal views on just about everything can have such strict and inflexible laws with its cars and drivers. I mean we all know it's not really about emissions anymore. It's about $$ and I think California really has lost it's way with the car thing.

I have not been in the state long enough to make any 100% judgments but this is what I feel atm. However I consider myself EXTREEMLY lucky to not have been pulled over for a few things. One stop could ruin it all though...

 

i wish that would work. friend of mine got busted at a san diego show last year. he told the lady cop its a show car ( which is true ) and he lives in san fernando valley, she still wrote him a ticket for exhaust and for being low. afterwards, she told him that he has a very nice car and to just flat bed the car since its meant for show...yea like most of us are baller to spend $600 per show for that.

 

i got a speeding ticket going up Kellog hill in the slow lane the cop said i was doing 80!, very unlikely. my xb is a automatic and the ac was on full blast i was heading to the 57 frwy. anyway
the CHP told me to pull off the frwy and he made me pop my hood and i laughed

i popped it and said its stock cept for the k&n and thats CARB legal, so he makes me go sit in my car

the 2 cops talk it all over then ask me whats the shiny thing is under my hood,
i explained its a catch can and its to keep the oil from pukeing back into the motor and fouling out spark plugs. he said the hoses i had on it werent DOT (there the clear teflon woven hoses-the cops didnt even know what they were looking at!)and gave me crap about it not being smog legal


long story short.....
they hand me a ticket for front plate cover, modified emissions, and speeding
i cant afford the ticket so i have to fight it, and it could cost me my job

ive noticed lots of cop activity all over and ive heard lots of storys of cops pulling over scions and giving them B.S. tickets. my sister saw a bone stock xb getting nailed by the cops the other day for no aparent reason

whats going on with the cops? are they bored or trying to get paid since the government is beyond broke?

id hate to get lumped in with the imoprt crowd as being a public menace

im going to ask the judge if he wants to take a ride up kellog hill with me and do exacly what i did that day, i turned off my overdrive cause my car was slowing downand the CHP shot over from the far left lane when he heard my car drop out of overdrive. and got hasseled WTF?!

ever see one of these motors its a 1.5ltr motor not a 5.7ltr caddy escalade! is what i told the cop

my pop says its the same bull they pulled on hot rodders back in the late 50's early60's modifying cars is unsafe and gross polutters,
HOT ROD magazine proved that wrong in the 70's with a stock and fully built camaros
its the driver not the car
