L.A. Scikotics Presents: Charity for Cheer Car Show
Let's send Cheerforce Glacierz to their competition in Hawaii!
CheerForce is a competitive All-Star cheerleading program located in Simi Valley, California. The 2010/2011 season will be their 10th season. They have 600 athletes and five locations throughout Southern California. The Glacierz are a special needs team which was established five years ago. They started this special needs team because they realized how important it is to include ALL eager athletes. Establishing a special needs team ensured that they are offering careful attention to their needs. There are athletes with varying degrees of disabilities from Down’s syndrome, mental retardation, autism, fetal alcohol syndrome, and physical disabilities. The children benefit immensely from cheerleading; both physically and mentally. It is like a session of occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy all rolled into one. It also helps with coordination, muscle development and the ability to communicate well with others. The Glacierz travel all over Southern California along with the other teams; and once a year they travel out of state for competitions. This year they have the opportunity to go to Hawaii for a competition, however, due to lack of funding they may not be able to attend the competition.
