Default The POSITIVES of Scion United

I'm a little disappointed at the way some people have reacted towards Scion for some of the unfortunate incidents that occured over the course of the weekend. People who weren't even there are jumping to conclusions and taking things WAY out of context. I'm one of the Scion owners whose cars got damaged (nasty gash along the length of the passenger side skirt, and hood scratched by the car wash), but there were a lot of GREAT things that happened this weekend. Personally, I'm going to reserve my judgment of the company until the claims are dealt with. IMO, that's how Scion's reputation will be harmed or saved.

Anyway, here are some of the fantastic things that happened at Scion United:

REAL Valet Service at the Green Valley Ranch Resort:

When I pulled up to the Green Valley Ranch Resort, it really set my expectation level for the weekend. The place was VERY nice. All these guys pulling up in vette's and other high end cars, and them taking my Scion and escorting me into the lobby.

The Green Valley Ranch Resort:

Wow! What a nice hotel! Nice sand beach pool with Cabanas, Infinity pools, and clothes optional private cabanas! Movie theater, Casino, lots of places to eat. The place was just really classy. Loved the hotel rooms too! I was very impressed.

The Free Scion xB Shuttles to the Las Vegas Strip:

That was a nice touch. There were mostly 08 xB's, and I think one or two 1st Gens.

Scion ID Badges

These basically had an ID number and barcode so that we could be accounted for quickly when getting on the shuttle buses. They were on Scion lanyards. Also included was a punch card that we submitted to each activity during the actual Scion United Event the next day.

Scion United Schwag:

After dropping off our cars at the event and being shuttled to hotel, one of the Hotel Staff came to our room and handed me two letters and two bags. The Letter was outlining the next day's events and providing a few reminders. The BAGS though were tight! They were mesenger bags that were made from reclaimed Scion Billboards and they have the Scion United Logo and Date on the front in rubber. All 500 bags are unique and different.

IN those bags were:

Three plush Scions: xB, tC, and xD
Scion United Water Bottle w/ logo
Scion Visor
Scion United Sunglasses
Scion United Sun Block
Scion LED flashing necklace
Scion Magazine #12
"The Skinny #8" Scion Music, Art, and Film newsletter

The Scion United Event:

It sort of reminded me of a government alien test facility lol. Bunch of White tents in the middle of the desert with huge spotlights and stuff. Really cool. There where giant Scion United Balloons in the air. The activities included:

Paint a Scion: It was just what you think it is. You painted a ceramic Scion xB and took it home. If you want you can glaze it and fire it in a kiln to make it a real ceramic piece.

Parts Yard: Cool stuff for the owners. I got a B-pillar CF applique and a Razo shift ****.

Buzz Cuts: Get Scion logos or model logos shaved into your head. Lol, I have to work today so I opted out.

Owner T-Shirt: A shirt signifying you're the owner

Guest T-Shirt: A shirt for your guest

Custom T-Shirt: This was pretty cool. You chose from a variety of logos, cars, backgrounds and colors, and made your own Scion Shirt. Mine came out great, but apparently as the events started to end, the Scion United Staff were rushing and some people's came out bad.

Pioneer: I forget what this was, but I'm pretty sure it was lanyards or keychains.

XM: Air Freshners and other little goodies.

Alpine: Shirts, lanyards, and other stuff. Shot out to Steve Brown. For those of you who don't know, he was on the episode of Unique Whips on Speed where they customized Tony Stewart's Hearse. He was really cool.

Nokia: Little gifts like lanyards and things I think.

Scion Racing: All the race drivers including Ken Gushi, Chris Rado, and Leslie Armendariz. There were hats, posters, and other stuff for them to sign. All of them were made cool as usual.

Optomize: Portable Fan with leds that changed designs as they spin.

TRD: Raffle for a set of rims

Then it was Dinner, Drinks, and Shot out time in the Hospitality tent. I don't drink, but I can vouch that they bartenders were hooking the drinks up BIG time! I got a rum and coke for Phil of SCTCC, and I think it was 90% rum lol! Food was good, and there were different items in each line. Cake, Fruit, and other items were available later on. There was a comedian and he said a few jokes in between Scion's VP making announcements and thanking us for coming. Then some chick dimed a dude out. That was HILARIOUS! After that it was time for the MAIN EVENT

That was held in the MAIN EVENT tent lol. There was a DJ, and the atmosphere was very club like. It was very cool. Couple of homies started a dance off. One guy and a girl were having dry sex lol. Then the Scion VP came out and introduced the 1st xD RS. It's Hot Lava (recycled RS colors? Lame...). Redman came out and THREW DOWN. The band was tight and he really lit the place up. After that, Flo Rida came out, and I think he validated the whole (White Chicks really like buff Black guys theory LOL!). After that, we got on the buses and headed back to the hotels.

All in all. It was an awesome event up until the last few hours before going back home and picking up the cars. People were saying stuff like they would rather buy a Honda after the event, but honestly, Honda would never do anything like this. No other car company would.

I had a great time talking to all the owners from across the US, and I realized something important... SoCal is the S#%@!!! Seriously guys, you don't realize how major the Scion Scene is here compared to the rest of the country. I talked to someone from Alabama, and he was hoping to death that the Five Axis cars would be there. I've seen the Five Axis cars so many times, that I pass right by them now lol. People were like "There are about three clubs in our city". LOL! We probably have more Scion clubs in Southern California than the rest of the US combined!

Myself and PrestigeRacing.net took lots of video, audio, and pictures, so we should be releasing it VERY soon via podcast/videocast.[/list]

I agree. I had a great time and the resort was spectacular. We were excited when the bell boy came to our room to drop off our Scion schwag bags. I thought it was very cool of Scion to recycle old banners to make the new bags.

All the different things for us to do at the event was a great idea. I thought it was much much cooler for us to be able to make or own Scion stuff rather then just walk along a buffet line of free stuff and just grab it. These are things now that are more personal and have more meaning.

It was sure much hotter than expected though and i feel bad for anyone that wore pants and a jacket as suggested. I wish there had been more cold water available when walking around but i never passed out from dehydration so it's not a big deal.

THANK YOU SCION for another great event and showing your appreciation to your customers.

The hotel was awesome (Montelago)... The room was much nicer than my own house lol.

The shuttles were cool, but I do have to complain that they weren't shorter-than-average friendly. Those foot rests were ridiculous!

The free time we had before the event was pretty nice. I haven't been able to just kick back and relax for a long time. It sucks to be at work right now.

The one day that group one got to go see the behind the scenes action was really nice. It's pretty interesting when you find out what really goes on behind the scenes and how much team work and crew members it takes to accomplish one 60 second commercial.

Food was great, the gift card came in handy. Thank you Scion!

The main event was AWESOME! I really liked painting the second gen xB, though I wish they had a tC. =P

It was also good to see Chris Rado again.

The shwag was awesome, TRD gave away some rims!!

Food was good, though the waits were kind of ridiculous, I missed the beginning of the main event because I waited in line for over an hour for a plate of pasta.

The music was awesome, I love Flo Rider! And the RS 1 xD is SWEET!

Overall, I had a GREAT time, and despite some things that weren't so great, I would do it again. I can't wait for the next thing Scion has in store for us.

I'm sure someone would give you their extra one, some people got 2 bags when they came back to their room. I didn't, otherwise i'd offer it to you.

I hear ya on needing the vacation. I left to Nevada literally right after my last final for school. It was great to unwind from the school semester and life in general.
