Scion Night Caravan Info *
The Caravan is NOT mandatory, but if you would like to make Scion history and be a part of a Guinness World Record™, come join us at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. Being part of the Caravan allows you to prepay your parking, get into the Knott’s parking lot before everyone else, and get a prime parking spot. Since you are one of the first of the 12,000 you have first shot at exchanging your toy for a ticket.
You can start gat...hering at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale as early as 9 AM. We will organize the Caravan, review details, and then leave promptly at NOON. Since this is a Guinness World Record™ attempt, we will be asking everyone to follow specific, detailed instructions. Don’t expect to show up at 11:59 AM and be part of the Caravan. There are several waivers to sign and maps to review. Give yourself some time.
The Caravan essentially guarantees you a ticket since you are getting to Knott’s first, but if you can’t make the Caravan, all is not lost. We are not giving out every single ticket at the Caravan. You can still get a ticket by showing up in a Scion at Knott’s beginning at 3 PM with your toy, while the tickets last.
If you are participating in the Caravan, please remember that tickets are one per person and will be distributed first come, first served once we arrive at the Knott’s parking lot. You cannot save tickets for your friends arriving later. You are only securing tickets for those people in your car who are participating in the entire Caravan from beginning to end as a driver or passenger.
UPDATE 10/18
Caravaners! Mount up!
Scion Night is just a few days away, and we are excited to set a Guinness World Record™ with our Caravan!
Here are a few tips for those of you looking to help Scion get in the record books.
... 1. Don’t be late. We are expecting several hundred vehicles and there are a few things to sign. You will also pay for your Knott’s parking at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. This takes a little bit of time, so getting there at 11:59 AM is not the best idea.
2. Listen up and pay attention. We are trying to set a Guinness World Record™. That won’t happen if we’re not all on the same page. If the Scion staff gives you instructions, please follow them.
3. Park where assigned. If you want to roll out with your friends, you will need to roll in together. There will be NO jockeying for position once you are in. We will stage vehicles in columns before you do anything else.
4. Register. After you park where you are assigned, you will need to come up to the Registration table to do a couple of things.
- Sign a waiver. Bring your Driver’s License and your car’s license plate number.
- Pay $15 (cash only) for your Knott’s parking.
- Study the MAP that we hand you. Directions are pretty simple, but everyone must follow them if we are going to break the record. 605 South, 91 East, Beach Blvd exit.
- Pick up your commemorative flag. Hang it in your rear passenger window. This serves as the indicator that you have paid for parking and are also participating in the Guinness World Record™.
5. Come hungry. The Grilled Cheese Truck will be there. Bring money (cash) and your appetite! http://www.thegrilledcheesetruck.com/. The Power 106 street team will also be there for entertainment.
6. Be patient. We will leave in an orderly fashion. This is absolutely necessary to set a Guinness World Record™. It will take some time for everyone to leave since we need to have one continuous line. That is okay. It is not a race. Do not try to pass people. Don’t be “that” person that ruins the Caravan for everyone else because you wanted to pass someone.
7. Have fun, but be safe. We all want the same thing: to have a good time. Make sure that your actions reflect positively on yourself and the Scion community. We want everyone to arrive safely. If we see someone acting inappropriately, breaking the law, not following instructions, etc, we will prohibit them from attending the event.
See you Tuesday!
