If it's not because photobucket is shrinking them down to 640x480, then it can be a number of things:
- I dropped my body with my 16-35mm twice before this event. Once at the Sciontific show (I broke the neck on my 580exII on this one.) and again at my house onto hard flooring.
- I use a single focal point (red dot) when I shoot and I move it around to where I want the main focus area to be. Sometimes, I don't bother to move it and just point the dot anywhere near the subject. Can this cause the rest of the pic to be soft?
- The auto focus on my lens could be messed up because of the drops.
- I just plain suq at taking pictures.
I welcome your thoughts/opinions.

could be any number of things...
could be the body, could be the lenses, could be photobucket, could be your processing...
best thing to do is not be lazy and change the focal point...
If you're using a kit lens, that could be a problem too, as those are known to be not as sharp...
L series lenses FTW!

I just got off the phone with the Canon Service Center in Irvine to check the status of my broken flash. I asked the tech about my soft picture results and the drops I did with my camera. He said to bring everything in tomorrow to see if they need to be recalibrated when I pick up my flash. If they do any repairs and my shots still come out soft....then we know I truly suq at taking pictures....even with my L series lenses. ha Thanks for the feedback.

Yes body might need calibration. Mine does BIG TIME. But I still get allot of clean shots. I also take 3 or so of each shot, I use filters that really help with highlights (improving visual sharpness) and refocus my center focal point often
I try not to take the shooting for granted and look at times at it like it's gonna be my last. Makes for better photos
PS: I used the Kit Lens for this show I wanted to see how far I could push my skill over tech. Kit lens is VERY basic and I surely miss my L lenses. But I got the job done anyway even though it could have been better with better glass and a faster lens.

thats another irk of mine...
just cause someone don't have some fancy pants camera, doesnt give anyone the excuse for taking low quality pictures...
to anyone wanting to get into photography, I highly recommend taking a photography FILM class. Why? it teaches you patience and to actually think about your composition instead of just shooting off photos without thinking. You learn about different lighting and how to meter in your head instead of relying on the cameras poorly built light meter. you learn about all the different settings you will use, which comes in handy.
After taking that initial class, take a digital photography class so you can learn how to process your photos, otherwise, they'll just look like snap shots. it's a lot of work and effort, but well worth it...
