I love how fast the 5 speed is. The Handeling is great and you can not go wrong with the price $15650 For 5 speed and $16600 for auto what a deal.

The extra HP was nice, but overall I felt isolated from the road. it didn't seem as stiff as the 1st gen, but then again I got some 35 series tires on s-techs...the new xB is very quiet and quick. I don't dig the shiny black plastic everywhere, fingerprints galore!

It was alot of fun throwing the new 2008 around the track. I played with the manu matic a little....its kinda cool . The HP is great....wish we had that in the first xB. There was alot of body roll but I think once you take off the stock lift kit and drop it ,alot of that will go away.
There was lot more space in the rear for passengers. I didnt notice a big change up front...it almost seemed a little more cramped with the new shifter location for us big people. I did like the shifter in its new location though.
From what ive heard(even before the show) That black plastic interior will not be in the new car. There will be a more refined interior similiar to whats in the current xB.
I won't be trading in my xB anytime soon for the new xB(just because i love my current ride) But with a big drop, body kit and some other goodies i think the nex xB has great potential. I applaude Scion for continuing to think outside of the box......no pun intended!
Can't wait to see the real xD

Yeah, i figured out after awhile that the black plastic was just because these cars were pre-pro models and not what we'll get at dealerships. It was still entertaining to flog around the track while scaring the crap outta my gf in the backseat ;)

I'm with Chef on the room in front--the console was higher and seemed in the way. The armrest was worthless for me--a good 6 inches below where I would rest my arm----unless it is part of the preproduction interior. I didn't think there was much more room in the back seat area, but the trunk area was way bigger. I drove the automatic and it was hard to judge the response on a short closed course. It was a good time and anyone that can should go to the San Diego or LA shows...........

Didn't feel that way to me...

The trunk is MUCH larger, but the backseat felt about the same, if not slightly smaller.

As for the drive. I mashed the gas on the Auto and was not impressed. Honestly, 0-30mph felt like my box. I'm sure the top end and passing power is much better, but the track had it's limits. The 5-speed is where you really feel the low end power bump over gen 1.

The hadling was a little more sloppy. Sure, it was stock, and my car sits on 17"s with a Hotchkis Stage 1, so I'm sure with some mods it will feel better. It kinda reminded me of my Matrix, but felt more closed in. The thick c-pillar didn't create as much of a blind spot as I thought, but it does block tons of light and take away the "glass house" feeling the gen 1 has.

The center console + armrest combo was strange. Niether one was in the right position to rest my arm. Once again, the shifter location reminded me of my Matrix, so I'm used to it.

Overall, It was a nice ride. It doesn't feel like a "tuner car" and the go-kart feel of the gen 1 is gone, but it's definitely a cozy, solid feeling that's worth the asking price.
