it is California Vehicle Code section 5200. It is currently illegal and there is a petition to attempt to eradicate this law as we all think it's retarded. It is however, a ticket that you can have written off once corrected...no big deal

Retarded law, not necessary to obey it. I've been without my front plate since I got the tC a year ago and it has only cost me $10. I drive past cops all the time and they usually don't care, because so many people are rolling without a front plate.

^^ don't jinx yourself.. the license plate fine is just the start.. if you have any illegal mods be careful.. because that's just moer tickets waiting to happen..

I used to get a lot of cop attention for my window tint. When I got the one and only plate ticket, I had actually been pulled over for tint and they just added the plate ticket for the hell of it. Now that the stupidly dark tint is gone, I have never been pulled over. I don't have anything else that's really illegal now, so they're not going to waste their time just to give me a plate ticket.

I just got pulled over for having no front plate.....did a quick fix and went to CHP to have it signed off, what a waste of time

*** NOT TRUE*** CA passed a law where its a 31 dollar fine now if you don't have a front plate. Its correctable...but the time you have to fix it is now cut in half than before... and if you don't pay the 31 dollars...it doubles.

I know..because I've gotten 2 no front plate tickets in under a month. Its ridiculous
