Default Car show boards

Anyone know of a local (KC area) shop that can print/make a car show board? You folks that have 'em, where'd you go and how much did it cost? Also, what format would be required for printing? I'm working on the layout in The GIMP, so I need to know the format to save as.

Any input is appreciated.

vinyl shop can do it for you. just get a piece of metal to lay it on.

or you can do what i did, get a piece of 1/2" lexan, frost the backside (aka sandpaper the ____ out of it), lay the vinyl over it (the letters are al cut out), and backlight it.

Good idea Harrison. Now, what image format does the vinyl place need? I know they use whatever format Adobe Photoshop is, but I don't have PS.
Can they use say, a JPEG file?

what i did was wrote out all the words in ms word (so they can just copy/paste everything and not have to retype) and then made a layout in paint showing where everything went. then when i got there, i told them where to put the symbols and such.

just put everything on a flash drive and then transfer it to them. makes em happy (which is good because they're the ones that are going to be cutting out all those little leters for a few hours and you dont want them mad at you whilst doing that lol)

keep in mind, my style of board is only good for night shows where there's power. i have some blue floodlights behind it lighting it up, so i need a wall socket. during the day, it's difficult to read the board because the letters are clear and such.

keep that in mind ^^

If you need help let me know. I am pretty handy with the Photoshop and Illustrator. Illustrator is probably your best bet. JMI Signs is a company that does the full body wraps for the Dealership Scions and they also make other types of signs. I used www.bestpricebannersandsigns.com for the Scikotics banner. They are very reasonable and I am sure they can print the vynil on any flat surfaced media.
