you know that an EGT gauge is usless on any car that's not a diesel. EGT gauges were used for tuning of diesel engines. please tell me you have an oil pressure gauge.

an EGT / Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge

An EGT gauge measures (ahem) exhaust gas temperature. This reading is directly related to the internal combustion temperature of the engine, and indirectly related to the quality of the air/fuel mixture entering the engine.

The principle is obvious: if the engine gets too hot inside, parts melt. While other gauges can give an indirect indication, only an EGT can give a direct indication that the engine is operating correctly.

So why would this be for Diesel only?

well considering that all cars come equiped with a thermostat now. your internal engine temp is not really a big deal with how sensitve thoes are now it's not a big deal. the principle of an EGT gauge is to provide you with optimal operating tempurature for your car wich was relativly the same back in the day (which was a wednesday) but now EGT's are unique to each individual car. you will never know your optimal EGT on a tC it's really hard to find out, and since it's unique to each car it's not somthing you can just find out at a local shop or call toyota about.

also like you said it's a way of mesuring AFR's which if you have a wideband why do you need two gauges that do the same thing?

i couldn't really tell you why they're important on diesel's tho.

you don't really "need" a water temp gauge on a tC. altho it is handy.

I googled that Information because I really didn't know what it was. So I was just asking.
I've had thermostat's that went bad, So the EGT would help you to know in that case. And after awhile of having the EGT gauge on there you would know what was normal for your car.

Guys I think you should move this to a different thread and not talk about Turboing your Car in the MC's Thread.

"Mod" short for Moderator.
Definition

On a forum, someone entrusted by the administrator to help discussions stay productive and within the guidelines.
Information

_So say CherryBox sees that this has been flagged, he would spilt it (remove the EGT talk and put it in a new thread started by him) and then issue warning to to the "disrupter's" of the thread for discussing something was off topic.

Yea we do talk about other things in this thread, but the turbo/egt talk has gotten way out hand for not being in its own thread
