hey sergio i have a ? on the hydra system...

does it alow tunning for closed loop and open loop condition

and also can i advance timing past the +0 to +15 degrees range ??

also what increments can i adjust fuel in the rpm range and does it detect knock? thats all...

 

Closed Loop, yes. There is an autotune feature (WHICH IS DAA SH!!!T) RAWR! But it requires THEIR wideband 02 sensor. So if it ever goes bad you have to buy theirs. You can't exchange it for a bosch for instance. Which is a hell of a lot cheaper. Mine hasn't gone bad yet, even though I've put it through hell and back. So its a tough little fcker.

Open Loop, yes. If you were to get the hydra now, I believe it comes with the upgraded software/hardware which is 2.6
You have COMPLETE control of everythingggggggg. Also, it comes with an internal 4 BAR sensor.

Where as mine is version 2.5 and only comes with a 3 BAR sensor. I have to send it in for them to upgrade it. But you won't have that problem. I believe its out already.. Well it was supposed to.

You also have control over the VVT-I. Cam tuning FTMFW.

As far as timing on the hydra. It goes from 0-50 degrees of timing.
Let me give you an example. I believe my idle timing is around 8-15 degrees. Don't quote me on that, but its around there.

In vacuum on the freeway its around 30-40 degrees of timing.

In boost its only at about 10-20 degrees. Don't want to detonate my ****.

As far the table itself. You can set the increment on the RPM range, and the LOAD range. I haven't really played around with that. I just left it on the default settings.

It does have a knock sensor. I <3 it. When it detects knock, you can have it do a couple of things. I have mine set to retard timing by I think like 3-5 degrees of timing, and to richen up the AFR by a couple percent.

I personally love the hydra. I don't know why a lot of people bash it for. I have nothing against AEM, but the hydra is definitely no joke. I've gone over the hydra manuals a bunch of times. So its does have a learning curve.

You can set parameters, like if the Coolant temp is way too high/low, you can retard/advance timing, and +/- AFR.

There is another paramater, if the Air temp is way too high/low, you can retard/advance timing, and +/- AFR.

Version 2.6 is really a monster. I can't wait to upgrade mine, lol. But I have to wait any way, I have more pressing issues with my car.

I definitely recommend it, lol.

yea i just researched the price.. about 200 bucks cheaper.. not bad.. im mostly looking for the advance timing, fuel trims w/ a/f, and open close look function...but some of the secondary options it has are pretty dam nice...

 

Yea.. I've talked to a couple of tuners, and they bash it so bad w/o ever having tried it. Its ridiculous.

I've read over part of the AEM standalone (giant motherfkn PDF lol), its a beast.

I'd love to get my hands on an AEM to test it out a while. Its been out there a long ___ time, where as the hydra is fairly new.

Hydra is definitely coming up though. I also like the fact that the hydra does provide support for the TC.

Where as the AEM standalone, I think is universal.

thanks.. yea im exploring different options right now and figuring out what direction im going in.. gas is expensive but at the same time i need to get in gear and put all my headaches and hard efforts on the side on something to good use and let it stop collecting dust. ill know more in a few weeks after i finish up some business deals brewing.... just having fun now researching and learning new things.... i love the calm before the storm =)

lol... i was actually looking at that yesterday but AEMs version lmao.. to see how it works exactly... the integration to the hydra is more advanced then AEMs units which is pretty suprising and also cool. i figured more of those things would be poping up now but thats cool hydra is making that... its pretty impressive from when they first started to now. one of these days i'd like to check out how the tuning is and how your maps and logging goes on the hydra.. ive seen the AEM once but it was a while back...

BTW... alex xb told me to tell you when u take ur car to kiko. to be very specific on deadlines for when u get your car back and how much down time its going to be.. and maybe put some fire on his butt lol.. he told me hes been working slow slately... his work is still 100% but just alot slower.

 

I checked out AEM's version some time ago. I thought it was cool. But the way hydra has it integrated, is much safer I believe. It'll auto switch to the base map when it detects something is wrong.

He called me up over the weekend to tell me he has time to work on my car this week. I've been swamped lately, so maybe i'll have him work on it next week. It should..... take him 2 days at most, maybeeeee 3. I'm guessing if hes working on a few cars.

I am providing all the parts ready to go, so that should definitely cut down on the down time.

yea serg. i saw that it will auto flash back to the reg. basemap... the AEM does not which sucks.. but oh well.. but i guess the trade off is the hydra will probably be more expensive hen the AEM lololol.. since theres alot more work and goodies involved..
