happy bday javi.
happy bday javi.
the brake pads were like 100 bucks. probably a little more - dont recall since i've had them for months! literally, just never got around to doing them cause i was slacking on buying the fluid and i wasn't sure which one i wanted to get.
hey cedric, when you bled the brakes, how much fluid did you use up? i know you had 3 bottles of motul. did you use all of them??? cuz i only used like a bottle and a half. lol. mine were little 12 ounce bottles so it equals about one of those motul bottles.
the rotors weighed the same to me. didn't weigh em but i didn't notice any big difference in weight. the ones i got were the same size as stock.
a few tips if anyone decides to do them. make sure you have a 12mm bolt to pull the old rotor off. i thought with my car only having 23k miles they wouldnt be rusted and would just pop off - nah. 14mm and 17mm sockets are your friend. the 14mm screws are torqued more than 25ft/lbs. some guy did a write up here and said they were 25. bullcrap. the 17's are, but not the 14's. leave your gun inside your house - you may be tempted.

i used 2 maybe 2 and a half bottles, but i did my rotors, lines and pads all at once. lines were hella messy and the calipers were ____ing fluid once i disconnected the lines, so i ended up having to almost refill the entire reservoir up using almost all 3 bottles. i also bled the brakes 3 times over the course of a month to get all the air completely out.
unfortunately if you plan on doing brake lines down the road, you're gonna need another few bottles of that fluid to refill it and bleed it again.
sergio the rotors are the same size/diameter. the weight was pretty much the same AFAIRemember.
x2 yeah that little bolt trick is neat for popping the rotors off the hub. mine felt like they were welded on.

hey i'll be getting the slotted stoptech stage 2 kit in about a month or so.
although i probably won't notice a difference right away i need to replace the rotors soon so i might as well upgrade...
hope it's not to much of a b*tch to install - gonna install it with my friend who's a mitsubishi tech

javi, awesome party bro, happy birthday. tell kristen i said thank you again for putting it all together. we all got pretty wrecked that day...i puked 3 times, thanks man. and thanks to Denny for helping me out that day, eventhough I hardly remember anything...i just remember funnels going up dresses and me telling 3 chicks to make out. flip cup ftw.
joe, welcome back!
sergio, congrats again.
leslie, thanks again for the shroom, it looks awesome! we all need to hang out soon or have a show or something.
just picked up my car from the dealer. i noticed 2 weeks ago that i had a spot of oil on my s/c, where the shaft meets the blower (lol), and i figured the seal went bad and that's why the oil was starting to leak. i read up on it on scionlife, and apperantly, the stock seals suck really really bad, so i special ordered a better quality one at autozone and got it installed. Normally, the dealership would just change the entire s/c and give u a new one, per TRD's request, instead of just changing the seal, which is the problem, but I explained everything to the tech there, and he was willing to take off the s/c and replace just the seal itself, so everything is back to normal now. i've had the s/c for almost a year now and haven't run into any problems till now with this one seal. it happened after the track day, and afterwards i had driven up to orlando, so i guess it got messed up cuz of all the excessive heat or something, beats me.
When I saw the stock seal, I couldn't believe my eyes:
