well take it the next step further and convert it to Right hand drive... that would def. get you noticed...

but also, judges might not care for JDM ness, because in all honesty what are you doing, your trying to make your car into something it is not... yes your car may have been built in japan, but it was built to USDM specs with parts specific for USDM... (the front bumper/crashbar assembly for instance)

Please I see where this is leading. This is not about what I had.

This is about what all the JDM style'd rides that dont EVER get recognition for there dedication to the style.

You've seen my ride. I obviously dont have much JDM stuff, but its the style that I am going for.

But it would be a shame for me to show up with a W-blood kit, and 2nd gen headlights, with a set of Ryugi Deep racings, and a judge wont know that the $5000 I spent on my set up is JDM style. And will not recognize the art and passion involved with JDM styling.

JDM parts are hard to find and prety expensive.

I can go and order wheels from Tire Rack, or Wheel outlet, or something like that. You know settle for some Arospeed wheels, but its not the quality or status that JDM parts has in the tunning industry.

I dont knock peoplefor what they got or the style they choose. To each his own.

The only thing we ask is recognition of the style as a valid carshow class. Cause you cannot compare the two. Theres a lot of differences.

 

Looks like some haters to me. In all honesty, the scions weren't that great except a hand full. There was also only like two or three xA. JDM is fine and sure it get's you points but the bottom line is if it don't look good it's not gonna win. Cost of a part isn't gonna get you to win either. Not hating on the JDM but you need a total package to win or close to it. I'd like to know also what all you had JDM that you think you should have gotten more noticed for.

 

did anyone else have a problem with getting in??? i had to go to the building in the front and tell them my name... but i wasnt on their list... then they sent me searching for sheila... which i have no idea what she looks like... then i come to find out that i am on every other list at the show... just wondering if i was the only one!

 

But JDM is a style, Im not trying to make my car JDM. Its possible, but too expensive.

I dont care for winning. Its the fun aspect of it. I dont go to shows expecting to win, I go to shows to see whats going on and meet new people.

Again, my car is no where near finished. I went for the free stuff. Food was great.

I dont care to get noticed etsnet, I do it for the love of tunning.

I just shouldnt have to explain to a judge why my wheels stick out, or what a wakaba leaf is.

If I have to educate a judge, there is something wrong. Which leads me to believe that they do not recognize the JDM style.

And since people keep asking im going to repeat.


MY CAR IS JDM STYLE. NO WHERE NEAR FINISHED. IM NOT LOOKING TO GET NOTICED AND I DONT GO TO SHOWS FOR THE COMPETITION.

Exactly. But dont forget that cost isnt the only factor. If you showed up with the above mod list Im 100% sure you would be noticed. JDM or not.

But I understand what your saying about people not knowing about JDM. I like JDM cars but alot of guys are just copy/paste style. Not alot of creativity.

But im sure this discussion could go on for days......

Your absolutely right Jorge. I forgot about the creativity aspect. I must have been smoking the wrong stuff when I thought orange and red was creative. Of course the wheels are prety common. ON FORUMS!!!! But I barely see low offset wheels making a car look beefy driving around. I usually see the stock color on black, silver, or color matched wheels.

But then again, I might be mislead on the concept of creativity.

fact of the matter on almost every show.... its always going to be in the judges hands.. sadly most judges only see past pep boys and the more ricey crap, cheap overplayed out rim styles, and non functional junk you put on will always prevail against cleaner cars with better mods and better taste( or parts )... sad but thats the truth in most cases..

i was not impressed with any scions their.. maybe 2 or 3 were ok or had things that really should have gotten noticed. the rest should just hardpark at pepboys and flash the neons like they do. i can only name maybe 2/3 cars that deserved something.. the rest were blah and well lol.. ill just leave it at that..

i wouldnt bro.. i personally agree with what your saying on judging. its always gonna be hard to compete when ppl sometimes dont appreciate the hard work in finding rare parts or parts from over seas VS.s parts you can buy at autozone. you xb is one of the few cars i liked.. as well as someone xb on black bbs's..(who ever that may be) as far as xbs that was it.. tc's lol thats a whole other story..

 

I can vouch for pete. He is a EXTREMELY well knowledge man when it comes to cars. And is has earned a very high level of respect from a lot of the guys here in Miami.

And yes, I have neons. No, it doesnt bother me that you think its rice. Because I have fun with my car.
