Watching the Live Drift Stream. Stated Kado's 350z went from 420 to 700+ with the turbo added to the V8. Gushi is into the Great 8 currently.

Guys ever think that the more horsepower cars cost more to maintain. Not only bc of more hp, but everything included? Someone said something about price not really mattering; I think it does...a lot lol. 100k Fr-s'? Or both combined? I think the Mustang GT (upgrade) starts at 28k, though base, I'd like to see a head to head against a brz premium (wing). I still really like that the FR-S (better than BRZ by front end) looks fantastic especially for its price.

You can not compare a Mustang GT to the FRS/BRZ. It has twice the power. The better Ford comparison really is the Focus ST for price and power but the FWD is what throws people to the Mustang. Altough I wonder what the Focus ST lap time would be with the suspension that does allow you to slide out of the corners.

What are your expectations of the Mustang V8 vs the BRZ? If the BRZ can barely keep up with V6, then the V8 is no contest. Why not compare a Z06 corvette to it while youre at it. Some comparisons just dont make sense.
If youre in the market to buy a new car and both of them tickle your fancy, drive both and whichever car you like better is the car you buy. Who cares what the numbers say, it is all about driver experience and that is the whole point of the FRS/BRZ. If your goal is to get pressed back into the seat then the FRS wont do that; it doesnt really stack up against V8 pony/muscle cars.

Not in a straight line.... Could possibly reel it in at the turns, but.. I kinda doubt it. Assuming the driver in the z06 knows how to use the car to its potential.
Z06 – 3130 lbs, 505 hp
Power to Weight Ratio = 6.19lbs per 1hp
The BRZ has 200 HP and weighs 2,732 lbs.
13+ lbs per 1hp
.. At a 300hp FRS/BRZ the P2W is 9.1lbs per 1hp, compared to moving the vettes 6.19lbs per 1hp. (Or about 75% of the z06's power).
To straightline a Z06, the FRS/BRZ is going to need more around 400hp, or double the HP.

I was talking about on the track. Not all drivers are created equal. Gearing also plays a part in it as well. We will just have to find out. I have chased down plenty of Z06 guys at the track.
Z06 specs I found were 3199lbs @ 505hp (crank).
I was referring to Whp with the FR-S/BRZ. I forget what the Z06 is putting to the wheels. Won't take one in a straight line, but I think tracking down guys at the track shouldn't pose to much of a problem.

I knew what you meant, but I could see how other people wouldnt - they think add turbo = instant xyz car killer. Even on a light car, people still have to remember that the corvettes are nearing supercar performance with every revision of the car.

Sorry if I offended anyone for what I said, it's actually what I'm looking at in over a year from now if everything goes as planned. The z06 price is way higher than the gt and brz. A z06 is actually what I want in the far future. I know specs. The z06 puts about 420whp. Yes gearing is higher as z06 should hit right near 200 by gearing. If it generally takes a 400whp lightened hatch to take on a z06 I would imagine the Frs would need that or more. We can't include curvy performance when talking about power or power to weight.

Wow, the blind love for this car is amazing.
There is no way the FRS with out a built motor is going to run down a Z06 corvette unless the competion is who can get into and out of the parking spot the quickest or the driver is the grandma from last season's Top Gear America episode where they had the 2 lap relay race.
I love coming back to this thread for some good entertainment.

Didn't see this till now. As I always say....Cars don't drive themselves. Really don't think MUCH is going to be that emphasized. Give it about 360-370wph would put it in the target PWR of a Z06.
Z06 @ 3199/505hp (crank) 6.33
Twin @ 2732/400hp (crank) 6.83. I figured 400hp crank would be right around 360-370whp.
I mean, Element tuning threw on a set of Hoosiers as their only mod and didn't look like they were doing to bad against modded higher class cars with more power.
