Mustang V6 Track Package vs BRZ
#164
No race track I ever been to was made out of a straight line only. That would be a drag strip. And no you would not need 400whp and more. It would only need to match the power to weight. If not then need to out drive the Z06 guy.
Been there and done that, and my motor is stock, not to mention being FWD. Cars don't drive themselves you know.

It is kind of like when an iQ wins a drag race at the stop light because the Ferrari was laughing at the iQ revving on him.
Rhythmnsmoke I admire your dedication and knowledge of the FRS. Scion needs more people like you to make sure the brand sticks around.

Basically we can sum this up as you drive your car like it is an inexpesive race car and they drive their cars like it is an expensive race car.
It is kind of like when an iQ wins a drag race at the stop light because the Ferrari was laughing at the iQ revving on him.

Basically what you are trying to say is, I don't know the difference when someone is pushing their car and when they are not..... Don't take it the wrong way, not trying to be rude here. But when someone comes up to you in the pit lane at the track and wondering why they couldn't run away from you, or catch you....it confirms whether or not they were pushing it, no what I mean.
It's not the case either where you would be an advanced driver, running with novice drivers. Advanced drivers run with Advanced group. Novice with novice, intermediate with intermediate. The situation you describe is actually the complete opposite of what happens in real life.
Guy A own's an M3, Z06, Porsche...etc. And thinks, because he has an expensive car that is powerful, that automatically puts him in the Advanced group.
Guy B who runs his run group based on skill level and not car level, passes guy A's expensive car with his non-expensive car. Guy A wonders why he's getting lapped.
That's how it is...
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to be able to tell when a guy is pushing it and doesn't want you to pass him. I don't exaggerate my track day experiences. The next time I'm at the track, perhaps I'll leave my video recording to hear the Pit Garage conversations we have.

My buddy in early college was friends with a track instructor. In comes this guy with his brand new viper talking big because of his purchase and thinks he is invincible because of what his car does on paper. The instructor tells the guy with the viper if he loses in his dodge neon (or Saturn ion..I forget which.) that he will give him his lessons for free.
Needless to say the guy in the viper got his ___ handed to him lol

If you're going to post your opinion or point of view then at least be prepared to defend it. And if you aren't, don't make posts like you just did.

FYI, I was kidding, you can not understand tone in text.
To really get you guys going I think if I put a track package on my wife's truck I could give the FRS a race both in the 1/4 mile and on a road course. I know in stock form I have the 1/4 mile and my power band comes on much lower and is very even to make the road course close. Forget about slalom there is now way I could compete.
Now that would be a different kind of challenge.
FRS vs. Ecoboost Supercrew 4x2 F150.
