No one was posting, so I decided to add some info. That's where I've been doing all my reading.

2600lbs curb weight
200hp/151tq
Pure Drivers car, no electronic nannies other than VSC which can be completely turned off. The Toyota version is called the GT86, it's being shown Everywhere...Videos in Japanese are on Youtube of them test driving it fully uncovered on Fuji raceway. Search for GT86. Go to FT86club and search around, look at the Photos and Video section for everything from the production version, to photochops of the production version. It's all there.

But maybe you just missed that part?
You struck a nerve with this one.
First major mod I did to my 240 was to swap out the KA motor for an SR20DET. Go onto 240sxone.com, 90% of the owners either swap motors to something that comes forced induction, or turbocharge the KA. I turboed mine about 7 years ago, and have owned the car for 8 years.
Now dont get me wrong, back in 1989-1994 when the S13 was being produced, the KA motor was way ahead of its time, Honda's were lucky to get 100hp let alone the 160hp the KA produced. Back then, it was fast.
But by todays standards, a stock KA 240 is slow... I rag on them and I am an owner...
Think for a moment about the cars that come turbo charged and the following that was attached to them. The SRT-4 and Eclipse GST (to name just a couple) came under $26K brand new, turbo and full of power, and created some of the biggest compact car followings ever...

While everyone here disagrees with me on the whole turbo thing, the fact is that the car still wont have one. I'm happy about that but notice how many people here are not? It wasn't long ago when people didn't wish for EVERYTHING to be turbo. That's the point I was trying to get across. Nowadays people wish everything from the Toyota Prius to the Sequoia were turbo. I wish everything was supercharged but doesn't mean I'm going to get it.

Scans from a training manual.
Power/weight:
HP: 147kw (200ps) / 200hp @7000rpm
Torque: 205nm (151 lb/ft) @ 6600rpm
Weight:
Columns:
First 2 column are for "small FR sport", column 1 is a higher spec model, column 2 is a lower spec model. 3rd column is Mx5/Miata, 4th is RX8 and last is CRZ. It's a comparison chart.
Top Section:
The top section is the dimension in mm, length width height wheelbase, ground clearance then number of seats. Next is weight.
Top spec manual is 1230kg, auto is 1250kg.
Low spec manual is 1210kg, auto is 1230kg.
Then its turning radius.
High spec rides on 17" wheels and low spec on 16.
Second Section:
This section is engine. Boxer 4 DOHC, 1998cc. Output as listed on 1st post above. Drinks premium unleaded and 50L fuel tank.
Fuel consumption base model:
13 km/l
30.58 mpg
49.21 kmg
Fuel consumption top model:
12.4 km/l
29.17 mpg
46.94 kmg
Third Section:
This section is front engine/rear drive, transmission type, suspension type, brake then tyre size.
High spec brakes: ventilated discs front and rear.
Low spec brakes: ventilated front, non ventilated rear.
Last Section:
Last section is equipment which is not that easy to understand. First thing I notice is top spec has LSD for manual and auto while low spec only has LSD on manual. I'll post more if I can read more.
More update:
Both spec have VSC, front passenger and front and rear curtain bags. Top spec has front LED, leather steering wheel, 6 speakers audio (low spec has 2 speakers), white rev counter with shift light and sport pedals. Top spec also has "smart entry and start".
MORE THINGS OF NOTE:
Strut front, double wishbone rear suspension
Base halogens, optional HIDs on base trim, standard HIDs on high trim
LSD on all MT cars
Stability control standard
Only 2 speaker audio on base car
High Spec:
The "Customize Grade" at the bottom is interesting:
the car in fact does require premium unleaded gas (無鉛プレミアム)
the rear seat is one piece and is foldable (一体可動式)
did anyone mention that the high spec model comes with a digital speedo and tachometer? (デジタルスピードメーター revメーター)
Here are translated charts (by our members Spaceywilly and dimension6!!)

On the same token.. they've built the engine bay ready for turbo swap which delineates the acknowledgement of a demand.
If they say FR-s will never get factory boost then my money is on the Subies holding the keys on that one..
anywho.. the car better sound like the youtube test drives at least
Why the heck would they compare a CR-z to this??
might as well have put it up against a Prius.. and RX-8 doesn't speak very highly about it either...
When I had an Rx7 I was picked at for rotary engines not putting out much torque.. Somehow the Rx8 has the FR-s topped in torque or am I reading this thing wrong? Cause the from what I'm seeing.. the 8 has the S beat on power to weight ratio as well and from just 200 lbs & 35hp more. Is this thing being sold as Potent or Potential?? 250hp FR-s would have the Rx8 going home with a pouty lip, but only one way to find out who goes home with that.... To the races!

Hm.....If this thread going to turn into a ____ing contest...
Maybe I win for seeing the production vehicle in person.

I think a lot of people were expecting great things but in the end we got a four door MX5. Mazda will be rolling out the next generation MX5 soon and Mazda has already said the car is going back to its roots. This means the next gen will probably be lighter than the FRS. One thing that personally bugs me is that this car will be released with two different option layouts. Since the creation of the brand all Scion would offer is one tier models with certain options installed and along with no haggle pricing is what made the brand different from all its competitors. The price of this car will determine how successful it will be IMO. If the high spec FRS's MSRP is over 25K I think the Toyota might have a problem.

You don't think I know anything about this car? I have more documentation on it than anyone on this forum. I work in Product Planning for the company and have first hand met the Chief Engineer, shook his hand, and talked cars with him.
But maybe you just missed that part?
When your car is constantly broken and your cheap as &%$, you need a forum to ask how to fix it. Hence the higher member count

really? i thought it was going to be the first owner to rice it out and say "i bought this car for street racing because its cool"
#115
Call me a ricer if you want, but if I'm able to get one, I'm getting the wing. The rumor about low production numbers has me slightly worried though.
#116
reminds me of the wing supras came with...
i'm usually not into the big wings, but supras pulled it off nicely

Yea I'm really feeling the wing too. It's more like the newer GV sti's wing tho.

Im curious if it'll be 5x114 or 5x100 lol that way i can already get things rolling in the wheel area
#120
I'd bet on 5x114 based on the fact they listened and switched to it for the tC2.
This car is gonna be a hit.
