The Toyota version is called the GT86, it's being shown Everywhere...Videos in Japanese are on Youtube of them test driving it fully uncovered on Fuji raceway. Search for GT86. Go to FT86club and search around, look at the Photos and Video section for everything from the production version, to photochops of the production version. It's all there.

You struck a nerve with this one.
First major mod I did to my 240 was to swap out the KA motor for an SR20DET. Go onto 240sxone.com, 90% of the owners either swap motors to something that comes forced induction, or turbocharge the KA. I turboed mine about 7 years ago, and have owned the car for 8 years.
Now dont get me wrong, back in 1989-1994 when the S13 was being produced, the KA motor was way ahead of its time, Honda's were lucky to get 100hp let alone the 160hp the KA produced. Back then, it was fast.
But by todays standards, a stock KA 240 is slow... I rag on them and I am an owner...
Think for a moment about the cars that come turbo charged and the following that was attached to them. The SRT-4 and Eclipse GST (to name just a couple) came under $26K brand new, turbo and full of power, and created some of the biggest compact car followings ever...

While everyone here disagrees with me on the whole turbo thing, the fact is that the car still wont have one. I'm happy about that but notice how many people here are not? It wasn't long ago when people didn't wish for EVERYTHING to be turbo. That's the point I was trying to get across. Nowadays people wish everything from the Toyota Prius to the Sequoia were turbo. I wish everything was supercharged but doesn't mean I'm going to get it.

Both spec have VSC, front passenger and front and rear curtain bags. Top spec has front LED, leather steering wheel, 6 speakers audio (low spec has 2 speakers), white rev counter with shift light and sport pedals. Top spec also has "smart entry and start".

On the same token.. they've built the engine bay ready for turbo swap which delineates the acknowledgement of a demand.
If they say FR-s will never get factory boost then my money is on the Subies holding the keys on that one..
anywho.. the car better sound like the youtube test drives at least
Why the heck would they compare a CR-z to this??
might as well have put it up against a Prius.. and RX-8 doesn't speak very highly about it either...
When I had an Rx7 I was picked at for rotary engines not putting out much torque.. Somehow the Rx8 has the FR-s topped in torque or am I reading this thing wrong? Cause the from what I'm seeing.. the 8 has the S beat on power to weight ratio as well and from just 200 lbs & 35hp more. Is this thing being sold as Potent or Potential?? 250hp FR-s would have the Rx8 going home with a pouty lip, but only one way to find out who goes home with that.... To the races!

I think a lot of people were expecting great things but in the end we got a four door MX5. Mazda will be rolling out the next generation MX5 soon and Mazda has already said the car is going back to its roots. This means the next gen will probably be lighter than the FRS. One thing that personally bugs me is that this car will be released with two different option layouts. Since the creation of the brand all Scion would offer is one tier models with certain options installed and along with no haggle pricing is what made the brand different from all its competitors. The price of this car will determine how successful it will be IMO. If the high spec FRS's MSRP is over 25K I think the Toyota might have a problem.

You don't think I know anything about this car? I have more documentation on it than anyone on this forum. I work in Product Planning for the company and have first hand met the Chief Engineer, shook his hand, and talked cars with him.
