driving 100 miles a day sux........to me this is THE MOST USEFUL mod, at times my innner quad would hurt so much that I wouldn't be able to sleep.

Failed DIY(Just letting people know about my failure so you don't waste time/break stuff):
So I heard that ppl on here said that the LEDs behind the needles are white.....
So to change the color of em you simply have to sand it and paint over or use a sharpie.
Well I found out the hard way that both claims are false
1. The LEDs behind the needles are actually orange!
2. The needles are painted orange on the bottom side and not the TOP!
So I spend 30 minutes sanding the top part of the needle and no results
Then I used a utility knife and after scraping a 1-2mm of plastic it seemed unbelievable that paint could be that thick.
So I pulled back on a black plastic "thing" right behind the needle and saw that the paint was indeed applied from the bottom!
After a little cursing I used a soldering iron to melt the two glued on connections to separate the backing of the needle
here you can see the paint in the back
so I scrapped it off and it ended up looking like this:
looks kinda orange but that's just amber incandescent flash light bulb
So after I painted the thing with blue sharpie and put it in and it was TOO dark, I couldnt see the needle light up
So I took it off and saw ORANGE in the background!
So I removed the blue sharpie and now:
I have a white needle that's white when the lights aren't on and Crappy Orange when the dash is lit because I've abused it so much during sanding and scrapping with a blade

Yuriy! You can ask me things!
I have a green/white gauge swap with white painted needles that i did myself. You take the color off using nail polish remover and model paints for the repaint. I think if you go back and use the correct paint it will cover up the blemishes

repainted the cover with matte black and touched up the calipers as they recomend to do additional coats after over a week
before
After
Matte black better matches the blaack plastics under the hood

4th in the series of bad DIYs
Painting Rear Rotors Black DIY#4
I used the black caliper paint
Step 1:
Remove the wheel and the brake caliper
Step 2:
Take off the rotors by using 2 metal bolts that screw into it
I bought these bolts at home depot:
Step 3
CLEAN!!!
Using a drill and a wire brush clean the inner and the outer circles(the ones that rust). Try to avoid scrapping the surface that gets touched by the pad
Step 4:
Remove all the residue using compressed air and acetone
Step 5(Optional but recommended):
Mask off as much as possible to help out the the brake pads in the future
Step 6:
Using a Vitamin Water bottle prop up the rotor so you can paint the edges
Step 7:
Paint 3-4 thin coats
You're DONE
After Mounting:
After driving home from my friends house(very easy on the brakes)
On the way to work tomorrow I'll do some hard braking to get rid off the unwanted paint

Yuri, man. Call or text me when ever you have an issue like the needles, you have my number for a reason!
If you get the chance to come to the meet tomorrow, we can take the needles apart and clean them up.
