[quote=Scion202;3884791]yeah def, if you wrap the whole thing in aluminum foil then it will be even better!
but will look like ____[quote]

IMO I think it looks ok not to bad, works just like you said, check my build for more pics!

it's like the cheapest thing you can do to your car that improves the comfort of driving by so MUCH!
i hope you ran it all the way to the firewall.
I havent yet because I was too lazy to take off the wipers, I'll wait til I get the front strut brace and then will add the insulation there once everything is off

You sir, are a genius. Got mine set up just like you described. And it doesn't look too bad either

Ok so...since you started this
Question, I've been comparing your installed photos with the stock setup as seen here: http://0.tqn.com/d/cars/1/0/k/G/2/tmc_11tc_engine.jpg
We have some insulation down by the header/manifold, but none for most of the line (and I know it's the right line, we used to tap the freon in auto shop, dude...that's wicked...whoaaa). I know from dealing with the A/C units for my old house, when looking at stripping out and reapplying some badly damaged insulation on the lines, I was told be very careful not to leave any space between the line and the foam (foam must be sealed onto the line), as condensation can form on the line and if the water cannot escape, you may get rust.
Would this apply to our cars as well? I plan to run the A/C pretty hard on the way home and see if the line has anything on it after an hour commute, and simply wrapping the insulation on there makes sense, just don't want to run into issues later

That line is rubber more for flexibility than insulation. The under-hood environment is drier than something that just sits outdoors, and the small system of a car will likely see less extreme operating temperatures within the system, so it wouldn't concern me. Trying to have the insulation tight against the pipe is still a good idea, but is probably more valuable for efficient operation than corrosion protection.

plus the more insulated the line the less of the tepmerature difference will exist and therefore very marginal amount of condensation will develop. Using foil will decrease the temp difference by even more! What people say about corrosion totally makes sence and yet many pople insulate their AC lines and I have not seen/found any compaints from anyone who has had it done for years

is there such thing as black foil? that way it wont look so much like ur engine turned into a Chipotle Burrito
or how about something like this...

With the heat wave we are experiencing in TX and seeing that it's been 106*+ humidity at 90% every day it's not to much of a compromise it's not pretty but its function> form.
