Default 1st in the series of bad DIYs

Front Grille Lights DIY#1

Price: $12
Included: Control Box, 48LED blue strip, wireless remote
Here is the ebay link to the LED strip:

http://cgi.ebay.com/48-LED-Blue-Car-...#ht_5636wt_906

I bought 2 of these then unplugged the LED strip from the control box and plugged it into the other one because each box has 2 slots to control 2 LED strips.

Initially I mounted the strips on the inside of the bottom part of the top grille pointing diagonally down(45 degrees).
Recently I had the bumper off and decided to remount them so here is what I did:

1. Using Industrial Velcro I mounted the control box to the air box

Size: 132.2 KB

2. Connected the power leads to the battery, WHICH IS REALLY REALLY BAD but at least I used a fuse

This will eventually be routed into the car and hooked up to a switch

Size: 137.8 KB

3. Zip tied the LED wires to the chassis

Size: 140.3 KB

4. Ready to mount

5. Using double sided tape, stick one LED strip at the top of the metal bumper facing the radiator

Name: SCION123010.jpg
Views: 318
Size: 126.8 KB

6. Repeat step 5 but stick the LED strip to the bottom of the metal bumper and zip tie all around it.

How difficult was it to pull off the rear emblem's body panel? ...and was the 3rd brake light anything you could get to while doing that work?

wondering if i'll need to pull off the whole back panel to get at that brake light.

If you'll look at the rear pics of the garnish from my previous posts then you will be able to see where all the bolts are. It's not hard at all. Just dont pull on it from outside, instead push it out from the inside.

about the light Im not really sure I didnt pay attention to it

68 LED Break Light Bulb:

It took my friend and I 2 hours to get this to work. Apparently all the diagrams for the CK and regular type dual filament LEDs are wrong. The tail light is swapped with the break light. Maybe I'll try to make a how-to on this in a bit.
