I agree with the amount of potential this car has for modification.
I think it's important that people touch, feel and drive the iQ before making conclusions about value. I know it's hard to justify 16K for such a small car but you have to consider all the ground breaking technology that went into making the car.

We just got 2 in to my store and I've gotta say, seeing it in person and driving it has honestly changed my mind on them. There is MORE than enough room for two people, and I'm 5'10", 220 pounds, and I can sit in the back seat on the passenger side comfortably. If you don't have anyone in the back seat, then there is a good amount of extra space, pleanty for most people.
In my case, it would work great. I don't carry a lot of stuff in my car, if anything. There's pleanty of room for me, my girlfriend and both our dogs (a Lab/pit and Chiuaua/toy fox terrier). Pleanty of room for grocerys, gym bags, beach stuff, other random stuff.
And in the worst case, if we really need more room, if we're going out with friends and want to take one car, or whatever... We can just take her xB.
But yeah, as far as the value, you're still getting a Scion. Which means, reliability, dependability, steeringwheel controls, CVT, a very nice audio system from the factory, projector headlights, USB/aux ports... The list goes on and on.
Not mention you can now park sideways in parking spots, if you wanted to.
All I have to say is, if I wasn't waiting for the FR-S, I would be seriously considering this for my next car.

That may be a nail in the coffin.
(Don't get me wrong. I think cvt is GREAT, and would love to have one, but it seems that the majority of Americans don't understand it. They tend to see it as something that will be SERIOUSLY expensive to repair if it breaks, vs a regular manual/auto trans. Which...I'm pretty sure is a correct assumption regarding price to repair a cvt).

I'll be honest, I have no idea what it's like to fix... But I will say that I don't think it should be much of a concern. Everyone knows Toyota's reputation.
My tC has 100,000 miles on it and I've never even had to think about my transmission. (Knocks on wood)

Ah yes. European car maintenance costs. THAT's why when the BMW'ers, Mini Coopers, and the Fiat snobs turn up their noses at my Scion and Suzuki rice burners I just wave my wads of spare cash and laugh. I own 3 fully operational Japanese rice burners for what one of their Eurowagons cost to keep running. Someday soon I'll have one for every day of the week.
