No, not really, I don't believe we've even met.

And there certainly have been much worse designs...

But Tom is going to have to get "what moves you" grinded out, and "moving forward" put in its place.

I have never met Tom, but he is a valuable member to these boards, and seems like a good guy

What I can't figure out is why everyone says the original xB motor is anemic. I've driven all kinds of small 4-door rental cars, neon, corolla, sunfire, etc. and not one of them has any more "go" than the box. It accelerates better than my 1992 Isuzu Rodeo did. I have no problem merging onto the freeway, I'm almost always in front leaving stoplights, 80 mph is no problem.

How do you people drive? Do you guys just pull out in front of people or what?

Agreed.

It's more of that "Americaniz-ation" that every car needs more power. People drive to work like they're in freakin' NASCAR or something. The box has plenty of power for me.

4k is right in the powerband, less than 2/3 of redline. What's the problem?

I agree... Every car that comes out, should get better gas mileage than the older model. It's what has propelled Toyota "forward" in the first place.

I really could care less about looks. I do care about milage for a couple of reasons. On down the list of those reasons is, ongoing cost of ownership.

The thing that I dig about the new b most... air bags.

The old b scored poor in side impact.

So to me, the new b also looks like it could take a hit.

Am I losing my mind or did someone say something about paddle shifters?

I'm only asking because none of the pics seem to show that.

The picture of the Automatic shows that it has up and down control on the shift ****, but I didn't see any steering wheel paddles either. I think it was another mis-quote, like the HIDs.

I see the +S- next to the shifter, but nothing near the wheel

I agree as well. The new xB model will be a nice mini van alternative for new buyers.

I'm happy with my new xB 2006 purchase. Sure it's engine isn't mad fast but is zippy enough for me.

I was actually going to get a MazdaSpeed 3 turbo hatchback but went with the Scion xB for:

- unique body style
- roomy interior for such a small frame (thanks to the box shape)
- amazing panoramic view and minimal blind spots (near vertical windshield vs slanted)
- saved money
- great warranty + extended

Money saver was key for me too. My new job is 1 mile from my apt. Get a fast new car to drive 5 minutes - maken' no sense! w/ big monthly payments for what?

The new xA looks much better in my opinion.

To me, the front end and the dash seem more thrown together than thought out. I don't entirely 'mind' the car itself, and I think it's great that they gave it a healthy powerplant.

Above all else, I am disappointed that the new car will carry the xB designation. It feels like an insult.

I like the new xB...just my two cents. This does have me nervous about how they are going to redsign the tC though...
