Yup, me too. The xB looks pretty much like an SUV now. Oh joy. <sarcasm

Although, the xD is MUCH better than the xA. Looks a lot sturdier. I like it tons better than the new xB.

Ah well. xB, we hardly knew ye.

Nice to see Toyota's partnership with Pontiac is bearing some bastard children...Talk about one of the biggest design mistakes in recent history. How is it that Toyota can't quite grasp how to market a car properly these days? First you have sporty/unique body designs mated with a ____ poor platform, now you have a relatively decent platform mated to a ____ poor body design. If these came out as any brand other than Scion then would be laughed off the lot...even Kia has better styling cues than these. With the 2.4 fuel economy is going to be poor with city driving so there's not much of a compelling story. Yes there will be some decent FI applications given the platform change, but on cars this ugly why bother. I guess I will be moving on to a Skyline after all. On the plus side this will keep resale values of current gen XB's artifically high. The current gen didn't need a facelift, just a new powerplant.

Not impressed. Was hoping they wouldn't change it that much. The new xb seems to borrow from the old vw Thing. And even with the photoshop drop above, not really that impressed. Sorry, I'll stick with my gen 1.

Default bubble window in the back?

Wonder if you could put a 70's buble window in the back d pillar? While we have the plasma torch out, one on the top too.
I see mods...

I don't really it's the direction I would have wanted it to go, but it's a decent looking design nonetheless. They def didn't sell out the unique look and go mainstream by any means. As far as reppin the xB, I don't like it, as a new car, I don't mind it -- that blind spot is gonna be a b!tch though!

I too can say I am happy about my 1st-gen purchase...although, 158hp sure would be nice to start from! eh...I'll just pay mine off in the next few years, buy a new car, keep the xB, and pump the hell out of the drivetrain! MUAHAHAHA...

Anyone want to make predictions on the future "tuner" status of the xB (1st Gen & 2nd Gen)? Anyone think it'll acheive the aftermarket performance of pumped up Civics and the like? Or do you think they are destined to be all show and no go?

well lets see, tc engine plus a turbo kit, i think youd hit some pretty high numbers/ hp, a good surprise to someone thinking it would be sluggish

There will be a Tuner market, but you are still dealing with an ECU that's far too clever for it's own good. Perhaps when AEM releases their new fuel management kit it migth be less of an issue. The Fit is going to grab most of the tuner market for a subcompact. Toyota's really left the door wide open for Honda to grab back marketshare with their target demographic.

First thing I thought when I saw the xD was the snub nose bothered me...

So I got rid of it, changed the color a bit and dumped the background. This is what happened.

Not saying it's the way it should be, just the way I like it.

i feel the door was open wide enough to do much much more to design the xD,

i mean basicaly its the twin of the xA that got more beefer features.

but scion had a oppourtunity to totaly come with something NEW, the fuse is awsome, the t2b i fell more than the xb2.

but instead i feel scion failed with the xD, how do they expect sells to go up when it basically looks like an xA, and the xA did poorly in the sells department, and that was the reason it was retired?

That may have been part of the problem. They wanted to keep the xD as the 2nd generation xA. If something fresh was the goal, maybe as you said, it would've been wise to retire the xA and start from scratch.
