I've heard the same from the guys I've talked with, but this is the first I've seen with a v8 powertrain. The torque that could be produced by electric motors in a sports car configuation is mind-blowing. I want me some of that.

It does look like Toyota took the best of different cars and mashed them together. G35 front end with Vette headlights, reverse Mustang sidescoops on a 350Z body with a RX8 rear end. lol. Still looks damn good though. Is this coming to the US? Maybe toyota will do was Nissan did and re-badge this as a Lexus here in the states?

Judging from the spread, its looking like it will come with a 2GR 3.5L V6 with an "S" tune generating 305hp or so. It is shared with the Lexus IS350. Then it might have an optional 2UR 5L V8 with "S" tune that I would estimate pushing 400hp. The R designation in the 2nd letter location looks to mean dual VVT-i where the Z meant VVT-i in older engines. Very promising, and not outside the realm of possibility. The way its shaping up, I would say Toyota is trying to take a crack at the last stronghold of GM cars... the Corvette.
I'm doubting Toyota would put a stick on it, but I'm also confident that the new Tundra's 6spd auto might make its way (with proper tuning of course) over to the Supra. In any case, there would be less of a chance of mis-shifting and depending on if they develop a new quick-shifting auto like Audi has, then it really won't matter that much.
As for the hybrid, I am thinking that the conceptual hybrid supercar of Toyota, the Alessandro Volta, might need some more tweaking before hybrid performance makes it to the market. All in all, I think this will be a devastating car and will turn alot of worlds upside down!

the japanese says 3,000,000 yen (sambyakumaanendai) as the base price, not 3,500,000 yen, for the 350hp V6 Coupe. Thats approximately $30,000 US which will prolly be priced more (closer to 40k?) as an import.
No more twin turbo. that v8 5liter is gonna be a gas guzzler.

A sports car is FAR more then how much HP it makes. I would like to see a perfectly balanced, low weight drop top (no more then 2900 lbs) supra. I know there are a lot of TT Supra fan boys out there but that car just isn't that fun to drive. It suffers from a lot of things, and power delivery is one of them.
If they want to own the market they will have the follow check list -
1. Ferrari like looks w/ front engine rwd (novices cant control mid engine rwd cars at speed)
2. Sub 35 k price point
3. Light Weight, Tight Handling, Smooth Ride
4. Drop Top (automatic hard top)
5. 300hp of smooth delivery at least
6. Tight Steering and exceptional braking power
