There are special tools required. There is a drain spout and a special wrench required to take the plastic end off.

I went and test drove this car atleast 5 times, I even talked about trading my gen1 in on a black 6 speed. To bad the dealer would only offer me $3500-$4000 for my tc (auto, only had 75k on it, bsp in mint).
Glad i decided against the tC2..
Ended up buying a brand new Mazdaspeed3 instead...for cheaper then a tc2, much much faster! got boost?

I Love the way the car handles, rides great. The Pedals are still to close to each imho. Other then that I like it and I think it has now become more of your average car then something special to the tuner community.

Well I am trading my 2005 tC in for the new 2011. I was at the dealer Thursday and they ordered a stick for me they only had autos on the lot. So there will be one driving around the chicago suburbs soon. I all most got a Mini because I did not like pictures of the new tc. I stopped by the dealer looked at it in person and pictures don't paint the real picture of the new tc to me. I thought it looked good. So I took the auto for a test drive and that was it. Hope to pick it up next Thursday.

Nice. I haven''t seen one on the road in Chicago yet. I know two people that bought one each, but, they live north of me.
who said the pedal are too clese together? this car was nice to heel-toe. Can't do it in my xD. the pedals are too far apart and the gas is sunk down too far

I just took one for a test drive, and wasn't overly impressed overall.
The base price, had an invoice of $19.5K (included destination charges, etc).
Its good Toyota made it a 6-spd, and bumped up the engine performance to 180hp ; however, I personally don't think this rig is really worth the $19.5K that Toyota is asking for it(cannot haggle them down since its pure pricing). I'd spend the extra $4K and get a new Prius. At the same price, $19.5K you can get a CR-Z. You can actually spend less money on a new car, and get "more" car for your money (in terms of efficency). Also, at that same price (or less) you could probably find a very cherry 2006-07 Suburu Impreza WRX or STi.... even on a dealer lot.
Edit: forgot to mention, but overall the new 2011 tC looks to be an improvement over 2005+ model years in terms of performance(I could be wrong here, as I never owned a tC before); however with the new 2011 costing an extra $2K over a 2006-2008 model year(I remember, because they were $17.5K invoice back then) I think Toyota is really.... really pushing the envolope in terms of cost to the consumer on this unit.
If you absolutely need a NEW car here in 2011 .... well then. If you can hold out till 2012 (or later) for a new/newer car, then I'd recommend choosing this route to see what your dollar gets you in a year + from now.

Don't see someone interested in a 2011 tC and comparing it to a Prius or CR-Z. They are not in the same class or appeal to the same people. tC is not a hybrid.

I got my 2005 tC in 2005 new and it has been a great car no problems at all. All I have done is change the oil every 5000 and the brakes 1 time in the 92,500 mile that I put on it. This is one of the reason I am going to get a 2011. Toyota makes a good car the price went up but I am willing to pay a little extra for the reliability. My 05 does not have traction control and for me the 2000 more I pay for the car makes it worth it just for that one thing. Its going to make driving in the Chicago snow much better. I was going to wait for the iQ but its a little small with 2 kids to sit in the back. The tC has a lot of room in the back seat which is nice.

I was on Edens last night. I saw TWO: black & white.
White one sticked out in the crowd!
$18-19k; IDK?? I saw CSM, white, and cement at a dealer in Milwaukee today. If iQ depresses me next year; maybe I'll get a customize plate of "07 N 11 TC;" if you catch my hint LOL

I went on a test drive last night. White, auto.
I thought the brakes were "touchy" just like German made car. Everytime I pressed the brakes; it seemed that I was slamming on them. Maybe its just me....
I hated the new backseat headrests because it blocks your view everytime you look in the mirror.
That "Eco" light that comes on while keeping a steady speed is quite a pain. It seems that it kinds of delays hard accelerating because when I returned to my car and drove off; I accelerated little faster and felt it.
Couldn't try out the stereo; dealer didn't have one installed.
If I do buy one next year, I'll probably get 6 speed and also order Gen 1 back seat headrests. lol

you gonna feel very sorry when the FRS comes out turbo.. rear wheel drive.
tC2 is a nice car. IMHO its just stupid and waste of money to change to it from tC1... especially if you car has no problem. if you want to upgrade THEN UPGRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont get another car with a little bit of more hp and 6 speed but cheaper interior and less extra stuff ( like no auto windows)
