The 2008 Scion xB is bigger than the quirky car it replaces, but does that make it better? Yes. While not all changes are for the better, the redesigned Scion xB offers more power and safety features than the cult car it replaces. Bottom line: the xB remains a frugal family car offering plenty of features at a no-dicker sticker price way south of $20,000.

Hmmm. reading further in the essay,, I find that they didn't acknowledge that the 1st gen. also has VSC, ABS, and Trac Control as standard equipment..
The only thing "improved" is the addition of the side air bags .
the loss of cabin/leg room in the back seats, lowered fuel economy, numerous blind spots and the high beltline /lower seating position makes the 2nd gen a non desirable for me.

Personally I love the way it looks, fuel economy matters to me, but I used to drive a 300+ hp sports car so I'm easy to please, this keeps me from hating the new box for not breaking 30+ mpg. Knowing that, the thing that kept me from buying the 1st gen xB was lack of power, the new one doesn't have a lot, but at least it's enough for me to get around in traffic happily, that's why I love the new one.

Keep your 1st generation xBs nice folks (those who don't have to wear them out with super high miles) because they may become the next 'poor man's collectable'
Relatively limited production - and a following.
As for mine - it'll be wore out in a couple-three more years.
