oh i thought vector was a program that can make the cars look cartoony?

i use photoshop 7.0, i hate that CS crap

 

nope! i use the pen tool. and just make different layers. there was a tutorial online that showed how to vector on photoshop. i learned it from there.

Vector is a graphical style. There are 2 kinds of graphics, Vector and Raster. Raster art is what you normally see. When you zoom in on an image or resize it up, the image will get more and more distorted as it gets bigger. True vector images never distort. You can resize vector shapes to whatever size you like and it will never lose its quality. What makes vector images different is that they are based on mathematical formula instead of just blocks of color.

Vector graphics dont even have to look cartoony. There is photorealistic vector art. Heres an example of a Porsche drawn with vector graphics.

A great program for vector graphics is Adobe Illustrator.

There are also many many submissions to the contest already. deviantART is a reputable graphics art community that has been around since 2001, I know, I worked for them until 2004. Ariane...are you familiar with the photo editing in Adobe Illustrator? If so...what tools do you use? I'd pay you and drive up if you could coach me in this. Not necessarily to enter the contest but just so I can make mock-ups of ideas I've had for cars.
