Honestly thinking more and more about it. Who cares. I think scion knows they have been a big Fail in the car and Release Series department. Let just hope the new tC is gonna be HAWT!!!

I will never understand where the designers at Toyota get their ideas from. Not feeling anything about this release. The NAV screen is a joke, the color match interior is nothing to get excited about and the graphics......I think everyone pretty much covered it. I'm looking at this as the last ditch attempt to have a release series for the current tC before a model change.

That pretty much sums it up. Although they could have at least attempted to go out with a bang.

Scions are nothing but nice looking cows. Unfortunately I don't see that changing. This one is extremely ___ with that decal on the side. I'd have to say this RS is definitely an epic failure. I'd rather drive the new Taurus being advertised on the bottom of this page right now.

I was not a fan of this RS either. I attribute the lack of anything special on this one to the fact that they've been pushing back the release of the new tC because of the economy going to crap and using this just to stall for time basically. Which also explains the total lack of differences between the 2008, 2009 and 2010 models.

The RS 5 at least had some performance mods (intake, exhaust, springs, swaybar) and nice looking mag-style TRD wheels. The RS 3 & 4 at least had a unique lip kit on them if nothing else really jumped out at you about those RS's variations on white and grey colors.

This...has a gaudy stripe that doesn't even look good in black. Had it been maybe in white or silver, maybe mighta worked. The seats are cool, thats for sure, but the navi is terrible! The one put in the previous xB release series and the Wasabi Green xD had a much bigger screen and could do way more. This navi looks like a beginner model.

Thank goodness there's only 1100 of these being made instead of the typical 2300+....less of them to scare me when I'm out there on the road.

First thing I noticed about this car was the blue, I thought "wow that looks like the tacoma speedway blue" and sure enough it was. They say things like special paint only to the TC, they make it sound like the color is a total custom color. I know they only mean on the scion line up but who cares if you still going to see you paint color on trucks and corollas. Its not like the hot lava XB color, scions has lost their ways

There use to be some cool release series but not anymore. Scion started out as this fresh awesome car company and in the last few years its just totally went to crap.

with the cube, 500, soul, mazda 2, etc coming out if scion doesn't pull its head out of its own butt sales are going to keep tanking

its sad to see what scion started out as, and what they have become

i think its ok lol. maybe because i have a similar stripe on my tc lol. the one pic with the black trd wheels looks awsome. plus i would rather have that nav unit instead of a base radio.

And It makes me wonder, what is to become of the tC when the new "hachi" comes out??

will it keep plummetting into the common bore?? or will it get new life and be able to stand its own against his, sportier, faster cousin the FT?

i wouldnt just worry about the FT, I would be worrying about all the others coming out which are targeting scions demographic. Even Kia is coming out with sporty / urban cars with the soul and forte koup. I mean really KIA! Yet scion still keeps pushing out the same tired drivel.

there was a good article in motorweek a while back warning about this

""We underestimated the loss of momentum from the dark period for those two vehicles," said Jim Lentz, president of Toyota Motor Sales USA, during a recent interview with AutoWeek. "The way Scion is marketed, it takes longer to get traction." Ever since the changeover of two of the three Scion models, the xB and the xD, sales fell almost 25% in 2007.

Declining sales have also been blamed on increased competition from other car manufacturers. An analyst from J.D. Power and Associates said that the typical Scion customer fits into two profiles - one looking for the cheapest car, and the other buying a Scion because it is cool. It is the former category, rather than the latter, which might be affected by increased competition in the subcompact market from manufacturers such as Nissan and Fiat."

"To give an example of how much trouble the brand is in, January sales of Scion models was around 7800 units. In January of 2006, around 10 700 Scions were sold through about 60 less Scion dealers then there are currently."

its all true I always had a lot of toyota love, but toyota is making it hard for me to keep that love.... truly sad

The next tC would have to be pretty damn incredible for me to buy that over an FT-86. I mean... really, really, awesome.

Exactly.

And really is that not one of the major plans for Scion all along? Getting people into the Toyota family?

Yup. Too bad it took them till 2009 to realize they needed something sporty.

Srsly. If Toyota can hit that 20k mark for the entry level FT86, the new tC will not sell. If the pricing stays anywhere near what it is now, the new tC will be 19k, FWD, get the same terrible gas mileage, slower, and probably be a cow. Not to mention that Pure Pricing is going to force the tC to stay at the MSRP, whereas people will be able to haggle the price of the FT86 down, even if it's in high demand (I got almost 2k off my WRX, and there is a 2-3 month waiting period for them).
