The 3/4 view of the rear in the picture above looks like the back of the Celica complete with the little indentations near where the hatch and tail lights meet, and the C-pillar is bigger than ever.
Combine that C-pillar with those ridiculously huge rear headrests and you have the worlds largest blindspot...second only to a panel van.

For a turbo, C/R was needed to be increased so that fuel economy wasn't sruck at 20 MPG city. Sucks, but CAFE and competition are driving MPG. You can always do what us 1NZ-FE owners do, run 5-8 psi on stock C/R and if you want more just do a piston swap. Rod too since you're already in there and then you can go big without blowing the motor. Don't forget ARP studs though, head bolts suck.

lol I remember I wanted (still do actually) a HHr SS so bad but could never find one that hadn't been beat to hell or the owner wanted over blue book value for it.

Somewhere I read that they increased cabin size. But I noticed that the overall length of the car didn't change. My guess is they achieved that by shifting everything in the engine bay forward (notice how close the header manifold is to the radiator now? Also the battery is rotated 90 degrees and nearly physically touches the horn), moving the front seats forward a bit, and leaving the rear seats where they were, granting more legroom.
Though to be honest, the rear seat wasn't really useful for anyone over 5'2" anyway. Midgets and newborns were the only ones who thought it was comfortable.
P.S. - that is a huge airbox too. Where is the pathway to run a CAI? It looks like it goes DOWNward instead of routing to the fender area.

Look for super cheap dealer accessories about June of next year, if you know a friend at the dealer you may even get free stuff as they purge them from inventory. I got an alarm, rocker panel trim, pedal covers, interior lighting kit, etc. this way. They'll also probably be up as prizes at any dealer show.
