This is an easy fix, if we all chip in I'm sure we can raise enough money to buy Scion a Hot Tub Time Machine and they can relax and go back to a time before any of the second gen models ever came out. I still have nightmairs from seeing the xb2 unveil in person. Help me Obie FT-86 Kenobi your our only hope.

the difference being that in the current tC you feel its something special (even after 6 looong years) -- the details like the waterfall center console, the quality and feel/textures of the plastics, etc -- that adding forced induction to it just added to that specialness
now, with the 2011, you have a new design that already looks old and a cheapened interior -- you now get the feeling of being in 'nothing special'. add forced induction, and your in a fast 'nothing special'. kinda like driving a SRT-4 Dodge Caliber...

And THIS is why I can't stand Scion.... Everything done to them is to make them "more practical". The original xB was too small for a family of 4, so they ruined it by making it bigger, heavier, "more American." The xA was a great little car, and they replaced it with something bigger, heavier, and less fuel efficient. Now they redesign the tC, and they ruin the aesthetics by making the roof longer and flatter to accommodate back seat passengers. Guess what, Scion, I haven't had someone in my back seat (other than me ) in YEARS. I just want a small, simple, fun-to-drive 2 door coupe. I hate to say it, but the roof line ruins it for me. I totally couldn't put my finger on exactly *why* the look bothered me until you pointed out the roof line. It's not sporty, it's not sleek, it looks like someone said "take the tC and make it more practical for rear seat passengers". UGH.

A factory ground effects kit should solver the problem

Someone may have already mentioned this, but I'm leaning towards thinking Toyota & Scion wasn't really expecting 1st gen owners to go out and buy this new version. Demographically, I am sure that they're still aiming for the 18-25 males, 1st time buyers, and this may be what the younger crowd is into now. I can only justify this by seeing that they are competing with the new generation of muscle cars and AWD performers like Subaru.
Personally, I didn't feel that overwhelming sense of "OH! I've gotta get one!" like I did with my '05. This could be a way of them letting us down and hyping up the FT-86 for us older folks. Gonna keep my 1st gen tC for now, it's paid off, and styling seems to be ahead of their new model.

Actually, I changed my mind. I love it. I can't wait till the HS kids buy them, and then wrap them around a tree thinking it's a sports car. Can you say engine/tranny swap to the '05 model??

Dude I was thinking the EXACT same thing. Front looks like a Honda Civic/Accord and the rear looks like a Huyndai Tiburon LOL. A/C section kinda looks Honda also.

That thing with the roof is terrible. The pop up "spoiler" glass was one of my favorite features.

Will I buy one? Yeah I still like the car, but that being said I WILL NEVER get rid of my 1st Gen.......it feels weird saying 1st Gen LOL

I personaly can't wait to see this in person. I think it has alot of potential.

Exterior= people wanted it to look more like the fuse... it does.. and I think it could be an awesome looking ride with the right kit on it.

Interior= It's cool that is is all about the driver, the way that it is all faced towards you just slightly. Although I did really like the smooth lines of the waterfall, I think this would make it a better experience for the driver. Remeber we are the driver!! I want the car about me!

6speed= yeeeeaaa ha

more hp and flbt, thats what everyone, is and was asking for. I think they hit the nail pretty close to on the head.

In my opinion in the scion show scene were we all want to be different, why would you want a car to be like... say a celic GTS that is factory and looks like its hooked up. So all of us that put the time into the car and show up to a show parked next to a stock one and is judged by people that dont "know" scion's and feel they did the same amount of work because its got a nice wing and a nice kit, sorry i like to build not buy already done, i would have bought a subi... Personaly thats not my cop of tea and why I love my xA. My car looks completely differnt than the stock granny driving version I pass on the streets everyday. I want to take something with potential that can be tuned and BUILT to the way I want it. Like I said this has a lot of potential and I would love to get my hands on one to build.

I do have to say that engine bay looks more cramped than my xA bay... that sucks. were is the turbo going? lol

just my 2 cents. If you look at the fuse pic posted before... in my opinon pics dont give that car justice. I believe once you see it in person it will grow on you.

*still waiting for the FT 86

alright, i now found the main difference between the current and 2011 tC --
its this:

One of Jim Farley’s most noted accomplishments is his responsibility for the successful launch and rollout of Toyota’s new Scion brand. As Scion corporate manager, Farley focused on product development (Scion tC), sales planning, customer services, logistics and distribution. He later was promoted to vice president of Scion and was responsible for all Scion activities
Scion's current state and designs go hand-in-hand with Farley's departure from Toyota/Scion...

Lol I hate my interior. It was cheap before and it's cheap in the 2nd gen.

I like it, but wouldn't get rid of my 1st gen for it - hahah we can say 1st gen now :D lol I was sincerely hoping theyd release something with some decent power stock, and by decent I mean 200+hp not no measly 10-15hp increase. Maybe stock f/i? Thaz what I want But I do like the 6spd.

I just want to drive it, not own it.

Maybe the tC doesnt look like that...maybe Scion is playing an early April fools joke on us.
