Man..no love for the new tC, well I was one of you guys at first, but then I came to the realization that Scion did not build this 2nd gen tC for the previous 1st gen tC owners, no matter what they would have made the car look like, we would have hated it, why? because we fell in love with our model, that's why we bough it. People are saying things like: " I don't like it, it does not look like or have things that the 1st gen tC had", well hello.....its not suppose to, its a 2nd gen and its not suppose to like its predecessor, otherwise whats the point on making another just like it. Scion did not build this car to please the 1st gen guys, they made it for a new generation of kids. Scion will be fine, its not going any where, yes time have changed, but it will be ok for the future.

But for $19k+? Totally different car or not, I'm not seeing a nearly $20k car there.

there trying to price this car the same as the civic si almost. i can only imagine how much it would be after you install dealer upgrades (ie. spring, sway etc) anyword if it has a LSD stock?

yes I agree on that, but don't forget that we live in a different economy now from when the 1st gen came out, either way I have a feeling that the car is going to sell well no matter if we like it or not.

That's why if anybody is planning to mod their car they should get it a base model and get the parts else where, you know the aftermarket companies are going to jump all over this tC, don't forget that since its pure pricing the only way the dealers can make any money of the Scions is by adding aftermarket wheels, paint jobs, lip kits, etc.....

Exactly, and think about the RS models. Add a $2000 RS package onto that $20,000 price tag, and you're at the same price as the Civic SI, and you're knocking at the door of the Mazdaspeed3 and WRX price tags. The tC needs to be at $16k, where the entry level vehicles are (Civic LX, Impreza 2.5, Mazda 3, etc), not where the 'performance' variants are.

Edit: Actually, the RS would be more than the MS3, considering Invoice is just over 21k. Pure pricing would lock the RS tC's price tag at higher than the MS3, assuming it's where it's speculated to be. That is beyond failure for Scion.

I like my tc and will keep it as long as I can. Even if the engine dies ill rebuild it. This is definitely a step forward and its going to sell just like the 1st gen did. But i'll be moving on from the scion brand for my next car. I am really feeling the new wide body subaru wrx. I think the current gen wrx should have been wide body from the get go just like every wrx has been.

what makes u guys think that the new tc should be the same price as the old tc?

you guys get better everything.. of course it will cost a little more.

You guys dont even know how it performs. and comparing it to a mazdaspeed 3 in price? a genesis coupe isnt cost more than the civic si.. still it outperforms that si in every way......

Ya, I still think it will sell OK... just not to many first gen owners...

It's not about being priced as low as the first gen, it's about being priced competitively (and aggressively).

Some random comparisons...

2011 Scion tC: $19k+ (RUMOR)
- 180hp
- 18" alloys

Kia Forte Koup SX: $17.6k base price
- 173hp
- 17" alloys

Maybe someone sees that and is like do I really need 18s? Is that 7 more hp going to make a difference? The Koup is also only 2860 lbs.

VW Golf 2.5: $17.6k base price
- 170hp
- 15" steelies
- "german engineering" ... haha

Again though, those are the comparisons people are going to start making. Could go on and on... but it wouldn't be worth it yet. We still don't know if that's what it is going to be. Maybe it is "disinformation" or something. Maybe it'll be less.

It certainly does look interesting, but like someone said earlier, they should've slapped some kind of forced induction on it. Or at least, had an forced induction option on the RS, instead of cosmetic stuff....just an opinion tho...

As nice as a turbo option would be, it's extremely unlikely as it would basically break Scion's idea of only having one version. No separate "trim" levels for people to have to choose from. You buy one car and that's the version you get (usually loaded).

I agree with this comparison and analysis. If the car is going to be 19k, they are (as someone else said) heading dangerously close to competitors that clearly have both aesthetics that are better and performance features that are better.

I, too, agree that competitors such as the ones quoted above, having a several thousand dollar lower price tag could be a deal breaker for these younger buyers that this car and brand are supposedly targeting. With Scion's pricing and fixed interest rates (if you don't finance through a 3rd party bank), that small increase in price becomes much larger.

Every car has its darker model years (Impala anyone?). Lets hope that the tC is having its earlier on and that some truly mind blowing designs are coming later! :-)

Yea they should have kept the body style, made it RWD and put a stage 2 on it. Then it would be worth 20k+. it looks pretty cool, but its like a new accord, its not made for us prefomance/aftermarket guys. IMO it was made for a whole new audience. Ohh, and who needs a 6spd manual tranny with only 180 ponies?

I thought it was a concept car at first.

%100 aggree, i personally dont even like the 5 axis moded version.(red one)all i have to say is to me it doesnt look sporty to me at all unlike the older versions looks more like a family car to me....i thought they were aiming for younger youth who would perfer more of a sporty look rather then a sedan look....just my 02 sense...

I don't like the new tC. I had my hopes up for the FT86.
