Official 2011 Scion tC Thread (2nd gen)

It is better looking than the tC i think. The center console looks like poop. But it looks more sophisticated for sure. I like the new gauge set-up though. I think the door panels look weird as well. But as you can see from the 5axis rendering it has potential. Not to big a bump in hp but its something. I think 190-200 woulda helped sell this thing alot better. Oh well mainly the key thing here is it is about time! Overall it is an improvement which was needed and has potential for sure. I would buy one if it fit my needs. But I have moved on to an 2010 F150 FX2. Still have the tC but the wife drives it now and will be trading that in probably within the next 1yr.

ugh, it's kind of sad how much of step backwards that design is over the previous gen. Given the opportunity right now to buy a first gen or second gen tc, I think most would choose the first gen. Everything about the new tc, inside and out looks like a downgrade from the previous model and it's priced higher, how does that make sense?

Man..no love for the new tC, well I was one of you guys at first, but then I came to the realization that Scion did not build this 2nd gen tC for the previous 1st gen tC owners, no matter what they would have made the car look like, we would have hated it, why? because we fell in love with our model, that's why we bough it. People are saying things like: " I don't like it, it does not look like or have things that the 1st gen tC had", well hello.....its not suppose to, its a 2nd gen and its not suppose to like its predecessor, otherwise whats the point on making another just like it. Scion did not build this car to please the 1st gen guys, they made it for a new generation of kids. Scion will be fine, its not going any where, yes time have changed, but it will be ok for the future.

Am I really hearing talk of a Kia Forte being a better buy than tC??? And a Kia with less Hp, smaller wheels and less $$ spent on R&D at that??
On to the next one...
The price point for the current tC in manual is just under 18k. A tC at 16k would mean that literally everyone and there mom would have one. I'd love to hear you all complain then about there being too many on the road.
Also, everyone complains about their voice not being heard. But from reading this post I've concluded that everyone would have rather had a Rear wheel drive, Gen 1 Bodystyle, Turbocharged tC with Gen 1 interior, no alloy wheels, a Kia badge and a price tag less than $16,000. There's a lot of passion here which is good, but don't let your feelings overcome your logic. The nature of business is business, a car company has to make money. Just my .02
P.s. I'll let you guys know how the tC drives after our training in a few months.

As for your mashup of EVERYONE's wants into one car with a super low price point, that's just unrealistic. Ya, some people want some things that are kind of far fetched... I'm sure if you asked what people really want, you'd hear 300 hp, rwd, and 2500 lbs... for $10k. But you can't lump people's dreams and desires with realistic wants.
Based on what I have seen and know about the 2011, I still think $19k is too much money for it. No matter how much R&D went into it. That has a possibility of changing, sure. There are a lot of things we don't have concrete info about. But it's not looking good.

^^ I agree that they need to be careful with how they price the new tC; 19k is pushing the bracket for allowing far more competition. However, we have to consider that we increase the price $150 with every model year change (that would make a 2011 MT tC cost $17,920 without factoring in more features). I wouldn't be appaled to see a $18,500 priced MT and a 19,500 priced AT. Scion does have more competition than before, lets hope they blow the competition away in overall quality and performance.

I got a good look at this thing in the Flesh today. And I can say that there is nothing to get me excited about this car anymore. That cement color is flat out terrible. Styling overall is alright, but nothing to special. Still really not all that crazy about the back end. The "improved mpg" is only rated at 22/29....nothing really improved. They're still claiming 16in rotors all around. Biggest let down is that the sunroof is just terrible. It doesn't open nearly as much as the current car. I'll upload a pic after I'm done sorting them all out, but definitely nothing to make me rush out and buy one when they're available.

You know, of course I agree with most of you that this new gen tc is an utter fail, but it makes me really sad. Scion was kicking some tail with their cars and then all of a sudden starting with the rs3 you started to get this feeling of the lack of trying. No special colors, just recycled ones, no "must haves" on the rs series.....just some fluff. Now the rs coming out in speedway blue just looks like they gave up and raided the overstock bin of left over paint and some cheap decals. The new design is so cheap looking compared to the first gen. I just don't understand. I am sure they will sell alot because for as many people that hate it just as many will love it. However, I just am thankful I got to own a tc during the first gen. Beautiful car, unbelievably reliable! ( I m over 126,000 and not a single issue) I am sure the new ones will be reliable too, but they just won't have the sex appeal they first gen interior and exterior did.
peace.
peace.

Also got a shot of the disappointing sunroof as well as the supposedly massive brakes.

Do you see that weight? I'm pretty sure my 06 is only 2905lbs. Wow, that part is kind of disappointing. Does anyone know how much the extra weight will offset the extra HP?
Still hoping for a decent MSRP and better color choices.
