Ah... I wouldn't go by those numbers yet... "preliminary estimated" ... which looks like they just took last year's numbers.

Okay, the brakes are between 10-11".

Red = Rim diameter = 18"

Blue = Inner rim diameter = roughly 16"

Yellow = Rotor diameter = roughly 10.2"

That's going based off the measurement of the yellow/blue lines. Obviously not an exact science, but I can assure you that my 'math' is closer to the real number than what Scion is telling you.

I hope so. I would at least expect it to crack 30mpg highway.

I don't remember exactly where I found it, but I saw something that said the 5-Axis car had 14"/13" rotors on it. I have a feeling it will be that. 16" rotors all around are overkill for a car like this and will put extra rotational mass on it, which it doesn't need.

Weighing 3200lbs the 2nd gen tC is just as fast as the 1st gen, the gains are negligible, perhaps a tenth of a second.

Hahahaha, I'm still laughing at the weight.

Kia Forte Koup - 2875 lbs, 173HP

Scion tC - 3175 lbs, 180HP

i think that when they are saying 16" brakes, they mean that the smallest rims that will fit will be 16"..
meaning my tcs brakes are 15", weeeeee

are you guys still baggin on this car? nit picking and looking for excuses to bag on it more? it's a bigger car. that means heavier. the car has improved mileage. maybe so. it has more horsepower, is heavier and uses bigger wheels with similar mileage. not bad.

this vehicle is a result of Scion owners input. could be compiled from JD power surveys and such. if you didn't fill one out, you shouldn't be complaining.

now go buy your Kia's for cryin out loud

Please, tell me how much bigger it is, without Googleing the results. You'll ____ bricks when you hear the real size difference.

You messed up the wheelbase. It's still 106.3.

So Scion managed to pack on 300 pounds by making the car 1.6" wider and giving it bigger wheels. Engineering at it's finest.

People are saying things like: " I don't like it, it does not look like or have things that the 1st gen tC had", well hello.....its not suppose to, its a 2nd gen and its not suppose to like its predecessor, otherwise whats the point on making another just like it. Scion did not build this car to please the 1st gen guys, they made it for a new generation of kids. Scion will be fine, its not going any where, yes time have changed, but it will be ok for the future.
thank you. well put. well said.

It's actually not a rendering anymore (though I think those specific pics at the top of the first post are). If you look further down in the post, there are a ton more pics of it at the auto show. It looks pretty nice in person too. The color is hot.

The tC2 is an interior and exterior disappointment. If that weight number is accurate at over 3,200 lb offsetting the new power train upgrades, this offering promises to be a sales disaster -- what a let down

i dunno then. it's heavier to keep it no faster than a tC1? It's heavier because of updated saftey standards? Why is a car as tiny as the CRZ still weigh about 3000lbs? and they give it a 120hp engine?? i dunno.

you guys just keep on hatin and go buy Kia's

LOL like the 1st gen TC was sooo sporty. I want to see this thing lowered with some of those fancy, shiny rims you guys put on there Hopefully they put some real sunroof covers on there too. oh yeah what about that rattle problem with all those plastic pieces molding the roof? It's a nightmare in our TCs.

I wonder how big that new woofer is in there....Looks sooo simple to mess around with speakers :D

Anybody have any info if they actually improved on the horrid weight distribution from the 1st gen?

Oh yeah have fun driving your Kias. I'm sure those are real safe and not made with plastic?

Us, 1st Gen TC owners, will be staying on our cars for awhile versus with the 2nd Gen TC. The specs are just too close which do not have that much of a difference overall. We'll still represent on the streets.
