Official 2011 Scion tC Thread (2nd gen)

actually there is quite a bit of room in the engine bay. saw it and the iq and their fiveaxis counterparts in person at a scion rsvp dealin KC last wednesday. the pictures make the car look terrible. it actually grows on you in person. the factory intake takes up a lot of the space and you take that out when going turbo.
also what toyota has started to bring back is their multiple prototype process. which means creating different prototypes along the path a 100% decision is made on it. what we see here could be a stageIII prototype, so they could do minor changes before full on production. toyota just recently restarted doing this process when they where bringing out the Venza.
another thing toyota has a production model for the ft86 (dad works for toyota and at a regional meeting employees where shown it and he says it looks ____ amazing) but they havent decided on whether to release it as a toyota or as a scion yet.
o and the 5axis bodykit will not be for sale/go into production due to the fact that the head designer for 5axis intends to keep the tC for himself. theyll probably just create a lip for it like they did with the current tC.

Ooooo, a production version of the FT-86. So I guess they'll be releasing it next year as a 2012 model. Do you think we'll be getting a glimpse of this by the end of the year? LA Autoshow perhaps?
It can't be a Scion. If that price increase is true, $23k is well over Scion's cap of $20k. It should just be released as a Celica.

yea the ft 86 came in 3 prototypes. the red one we saw last year was one of the 3. They decided to go with another protoype version. And from what i hear we will be really shocked on how much cooler it will be.

so hopefully theyll change a few things on the tC before mass producing and selling them this fall
once they decide on whether FT86 is a toyota or scion (needs to be toyota) theyll announce it with wonderful pictures hopefully later this year. from the way my dad was talking it should be out in 2011

I saw the Raptor at the NYAS. Biggest automotive failure since the SRT-10 Ram. $45,000 for an F-150. Hahahhahahaha

I think the average price of a vehicle period these days is north of 30k.

Went to RSVP show in Chicago.
Turns out if you hang around several hours later; you found out that Toyota reps were opening up to tell you some secrets.
Like they said Five Axis tC: They are hoping to do producing certain amount of numbers. I know you're thinking "Oh Gen 2 RS 1"...No, Like a Five Axis edition.
Someone there also made the same comment about "No space for T/C." The same rep who stated about the Five Axis also proudly admitted "Oh there's space!" Remember, companies do have engineers so the engineers WILL find a way.
If you look on edmunds.com and look at '11 tC. You will see the price tag is at $18,800. There's probably ways to get it at 25k.
I'll tell you the truth at first I hated it. Spending four hours in a warehouse in the middle of Chicago with production tC & Five Axis tC staring at you- I'm seriously going to try & buy one this December!
I just found this info about FT-86

You can get a well equipped F-150 for 30k or a well equipped F-350 for 50k. There is simply no need for a $45,000 pick up that can't hold a stick to a Wrangler or Land Rover in the off road world. $45,000 for a pickup will get you a full size, 4x4, diesel. Anyone who's taking the rinky-dink Raptor over a truck that can actually do truck-like things, is a buffoon.
