I'm excited to see it in person. I think it will do decent in the states but they'll have to keep the cost reasonalble. If you can get in a yaris hatch for less then 13k you can't expect people to pay the same price for this...

I really hope they bring this car in with the most efficient engine setup possible. I really like the looks of it but ultimate MPG figures are what I look for in a car anymore. I drive 65 miles per day and I currently own a 06 XA that if driven easily returns 36mpg for me. I also recently purchased a 01 Honda Insight that I'm getting 70MPG with on the same 65 miles trip to work and back....700 miles on a 10 gal tank! The XA just went up for sale this weekend.
If the IQ could get upper 50's- 60mpg without a Hybrid system then it would be a great package! The "Smart Car" just isn't very smart, for its size it should get a lot better MPG figures.
But most manufactures seem to increase HP and lessen the MPG figures when importing to the USA...the new VW diesel MPG figures are down, the 2nd generation Scions were down from the original versions ect. I don't buy a small car for HP figures...I personally would rather see better MPG numbers.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm sure the 1.3L is a good engine, but that's the one they use in the larger, heavier xD (Urban Cruiser) in Europe. The iQ would be better off with a smaller, more efficient engine in my opinion. They don't need to follow in the footsteps of Mercedes -- build a 70 MPG car (Smart) and then put an inefficient gasoline engine in it and sell it to the Americans. Canada was lucky enough to get the turbodiesel Smart for the first few years.
