(I'd also be more than a little bit leery of the run-of-the-mill modder hacking away at a hybrid, when you consider how may of 'em get in trouble with just swapping head units - or even dome lights...)

(Yes, it's Photoshop...)

I think its time Scion enters the exotics. Something along the lines of a 10-banger, with about 600/549 HP/TQ.

Make it an economic exotic giving it about 50/60 mpg. Give it a sedan-like figure with the roominess of a Hummer.

All under 20k, no haggle.

I can dream right...

As much as I love the JDM BB baja, i think that the real "hole" in the scion line-up is a convertible. A car about the size of the Tc no bigger as this would just be to much like the solara. Perhaps convertible could help fill up the scion model line. Either that or a four wheel dirve TRD BB turbo would be cool.

This talk of a small mini-truck reminds me of the t2B Cargo.
How about this: Diahatsu Copen ZZ (it's smaller than you think).

This is the older version

i say sporty lowered 4 foot bed access cab rwd pickup that gets over 30mpg and can be factory turbo or supercharged. sell it for less than 17.5 and i'll buy it.

Man, that would be great if they brought the Copen ZZ here. Think of the feeding frenzy that little car would cause! Small, light, quick, affordable and the tuner parts are already available. A perfect city car that you could take to the auto-x on weekends.

If scion does add a fourth car, a mini truck would not be the way to go. Living in MN my whole life you would need to make the truck 4wd or have the option to sell it here. A small roadster or a 4 door sedan based off the tC would be the best bet.

The new XB looks like a small suv, HHR, but is still a scion. what they really need is some sort of drop top model, that would draw alot more female buyers and people who just want an inexspensiv cruising car that still has the import feel and capabilities of custom izing.

If I'm not mistaken, the 4-cyl Reg Cab Tacoma starts at $14k. The Access Cab is around $17k. It starts out with RWD, 160hp, 180llbs/tq.

So.... Take the 4-banger Tacoma, slam it, make it smaller and lighter, shorten the bed a little, re-style it with a more "Scion" look, add a bodykit (like the X-Runner), sell it for $18k, call it the Scion xT. DONE!

It's possible... Make the front look more like a gen 1 xB with a billet grille and I'm in!
