At East Coast Toyota in Wood Ridge, N.J., tiny Scion cars are sold even before they are unloaded from the carrier.
Theres a six-week waiting list for the Scion tC, said John Dee, sales manager at the Toyota store, one of the largest in the Northeast. ...
The hottest sellers are the redesigned Lexus IS sedan, Toyota Prius and the Scion tC. They all are spending fewer than 15 days on dealer lots before being sold, according to national sales activity tracked through the first eight weeks of 2006 by J.D. Power and Associates Power Information Network.

I think it's not just that Toyotas are hot right now, its that Toyota knows how to meter the available supply to increase demand. Everyone knows that if you can't get your hands on the car you want you just want it even more!

What I think is funny is the dealer my g/f and I got ours from has had at least 3 or 4 (up to 7) tCs on the lot for the past two or three months. Now... they might have restocked and we didn't notice, but I'm pretty sure a couple of them have been there a while.
Doesn't help though when the sales people really aren't "scion" people.

Yeah, that poll doesn't seem to be very genuine. Scions seem to be easy enough to get if you want one. Then again I have to hand it to the Toyota and Scion marketing staff, they've done a very impressive job hyping up the cars.

^^ I think when you take into account some of the larger areas that are having to order their tCs for every person at a high volume, then average that with a place like around us where the cars might sit there for 3 weeks, you can average down to a good number.

Actually, I thought that to be quite accurate. Up here in NYC, tC are still selling like crazy. A friend of mine interested in a tC was told he had a month waiting period before he can get one from a dealer. I waited 3 months for mine though, but thats a different story..

Some of the "hot" sellers are misleading, i think, since they are a brand new models (Lucerne, Azera, Sprinter, Civic, etc)
Could it be that Toyota does better demand forecasting and supply chain management than others?

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with forecasting but everyone's personally experience will be different. In some places they sit, in others they don't. That's why they chart has them averaging 10 days on the lot when I know that I've never seen a tC sit on the lot here for more than 3 days... and I drive by there pretty often....

Nissan isn't on the list because it is below the minimum standards. I currently have a 03 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V and I'm dying to get a TC because my car is garbage. I've had too many problems with it. Little things too, and I want to go back to something reliable. The only thing stopping me from going down the the dealership tommorrow is (1) I want to get my payoff lower (2) I can't finance the TRD S/C. Once I find a way to solve #2, then I'll get my TC. And no, I'm not going to take out a loan from the bank. I know it's off topic, but that's just my $.02 on Nissan.
