thanks for providing that info. its very interesting. hipphop has come a far way from cardboard breaking, to pushing pause and stop to record music, from taging on notebooks to trains. its coming from far.

wow, that was a lot, sorry guys. i love what scion has done. i didn't buy my car because i went to a scion sponsored show. oh, and i bet that this guy who wrote the second article is an awesome rapper, and he puts on free shows. i think some people get caught up. i bet this guy isn't even from the ghetto ghetto. actually i take that back...don't wanna sound assumptive (although i am). edit...strike the last comment from the record.

anyways...i don't think scion sponsors the meet i went to at krispy kreme, that's scion culture. i just happened to be listening to hip-hop on the way there.

I agree with you on everything except jay-z. I just hate when everyone says that jay is mainstream. every rapper needs a couple radio friendly songs to sell, but even his radio songs are very lyrical. hes the best alove and top 2 dead or alive. i dont know if you listen to rap or not but if you do try picking up reasonable doubt or blueprint. lol sorry, im not trying to turn this into a hiphop thread

But yea i like the whole hip-hop marketing thing but i doubt it helps them that much

I'll say it again. Scion ain't hip hop. Toyota just decided that hip hop was the best way (at the moment) to get 18-25 year olds to think Scion is cool and go in to debt. When it fails to suit their needs, (or causes bad press for them) they will ditch it for the next big thing. Buying a car because it's hip hop is as retarded as buying one because it has a red tag discount and two years of free gas. Yet another reason why this is the worst generation ever.....but I digress.

bottom line, pruduct is king. Scion is trying way too hard with their marketing to be cool.
I agree. The data I've seen shows the average buyer is in his 40's. No amount of monkey music and rap crap is appealing to that age group. In fact, it could prove to have a real adverse affect on the buying public in middle America. There is a reason why I've had at least 1 Honda in my driveway for the past 25 years and it has nothing to do with short-lived, counter-culture fads.

haha, jay is my favorite rapper. i'm not saying his music is bad, i love jay. but what i'm saying is that all the underground dudes say he is. that his music is crap. i haven't heard a song yet from jay, that i haven't been like "damn, that was sick." in fact, i was listening to reasonable doubt on the way to work. and the blueprint one and two, are in my cd case. btw as a side note...that unplugged with the roots is awesome.

as an edit...ps..edit...has anyone heard the remix of kanye's diamond song? jay says "i'm not a business man, i'm a business, man." damn.

oh and i just wanted to add, as a marketing thing, it's genius to want to have cred with the crowd you're trying to reach. i know for a fact that if scion did commercials with britney spears...a lot of people with scions wouldn't have them. you don't buy a product for what music they put on their commercials...but you do buy into a products image. y gen is very very product image consious. not everyone...please keep that in mind before flaming me. but, there are a large number i'm sure. end edit...ccccchhhhh over.
