This is not a terrible mod. THIS IS A TEST MULE. Most likely a Scion Test Mule, but not necessarily. Who ever built this thing could be testing anything. It could be Scion using the current body style xB to test a new chassis or drive train. It could be Toyota doing the same. (I know they are the same company... it is just a matter of who the end product will be for.) It could be an second tier manufacturer looking to test equipment.

What we don't know right now is exactly what is being tested, or by who. What is obvious from the pictures (to anyone who has been into cars for any decent amount of time) is that this "monstrosity" is in fact a test mule. It has the tell-tale look of a test mule. The story that accompanies the pictures sound like others shared about test mule spotting.

Those of you who know nothing about what test mules are, and why they are built need to hold your tongues. This is not someone's project gone bad. This is not some individual's idea of a custom. You might as well jump off that train right now, because it will never even leave the station.

lol lmbao. u could have kept that last part to yourself. either which way it go we will all find out one day. but u dont have to try and bully people with your words. it doesnt work. i know enough about cars. and actually right now that thing can be both a test mule or a bad mod . or like i said earlier in the post it could just be made like that to throw everybody off. just like BMW did with their e64 its their M6 or some crap like that. it had lots of molding on it. it was ugly

Look at the back window homie, thats is huge and not molding. I'm looking between the 2 right now, and that [window] is way longer than the xBs.

Yeah, but I don't think it's the 2008 xB, I'll vote with test mule of...whatever.

I will continue to speak my mind on this site, and any other that I choose despite the reaction of thin skinned post *****. I've stated that before, and I will state it again.

And just because you saw the Speed Channel special about the M6 doesn't mean you know any more about it, or any other test mule than the tens of thousands of people that saw the same show.

Now I'm not going to call you out as "kid" like many others on this site like to do. I am only a few years older, and I remember what I knew (and thought I knew) at 20. I can tell you that at 20 though, I still would have known that this was a test mule of some sort. It is not a custom build from an individual. I'd be willing to put money on the fact that this car is being used to TEST SOMETHING.

The first 2 letters are MT, which makes it a manufacturers plate. I see those on mules, debadged jags with too many computers and water jugs in the passenger seat, and all kinds of strange things around here.

Thanks---I asked the question about MFG plates back on page 4--this makes a lot of sense now. Must be testing under extreme weather conditions in AZ. Does Toyota have a facility over there??

I know GM, Dodge and Ford have testing facilities here in AZ, not sure about Toyota.

Nothing personal bro, I don't really care if it's a test mule or an exact copy of the 2008 model. I think you need to take a breath and count to ten before you reply next time. It's only the Internet, don't get so worked up about it. But what do I know, I'm just some 39 year old fart and not a master of knowledge such as yourself.

It's not a normal AZ plate, it's the Manufacturer's plate.

1st two digits are MT= manufacture test

I work less than a mile from the GM proving ground, I see 'em all the time. Too bad the Toyota proving ground is on the other side of the county otherwise I'll go peeking

This is what I've learned from talking with a few dealers. The 2008 is going to look similar to the new bB but with a different name. There will be a different body kit different from the JDM and european market. The engine is going to get an overhaul with 150-160 HP. That is all I know about the 2008 xB replacement.

The xA replacement will be a completely different car. I know that it will be a 4dr though.

I got this information by cross talking between different dealerships. Eventually if you talk about stuff enough, people will start to divulge the truth. Also, there's a dealership in the area that is already starting a list for the xB RS4.0 (Mazora Red). RS4 is going to be sweet from what I saw.
