the new xa is going to be longer , lower , more stretched. and have the 1.8 which will give it better gas mileage or the same with a gain of like 27 hp.

I understand that this thread is filled with a vast amount of utter speculation and BS, but all that aside, if the gas mileage on the xB gets nixed too much, I'll be very disappointed in the brand.

Aside from the personality the car has, the other major selling point to me was the gas mileage (I travel a lot between Chattanooga, TN and parts of Kentucky.) and the reliability of Toyota products.

If the gas mileage goes away, I might be considering a Yaris or Prius in my future when it's time to replace my xB. I'm much rather stay with the Scion brand.

even if it does lose alittle gas milage the tank will be bigger so it will still work out to be the same

A Suburban goes a little farther on $100 than my xA goes on about $30. It doesn't "work out to be the same"

well from the looks of the mule pic it doesnt look to me like the new one is the same size as a suburban, so I would say its safe to say we dodged a bullet on that one.

Word! Driving a 2003 F150 Supercrew now. Put in $67 to fill up last night, I will fill up again in roughly 325 miles. With ANY luck, the next fillup will be in a new xB that gets about the same mileage out of a tank but uses half the gallons.

Just wanted to give my two cents! Really its a question. I work for scion and i am really wondering.

How would a car that is designed and built only in japan be riding in LA?

If you saw it, what was your impression of how it looks. Getting the 1.8L engine from the Corolla would be good, as would the additional cargo space created by a longer car. However, does it still look good?

Does it look anything like the Ractis?

Nowhere has it even been suggested that the car will be made in the USA. I beilieve it has been difinitively stated that NO Scions will be made in the USA at any time in the near future. The xB will be DRIVEN in the USA so it is tested here. It is very common for the Japanese and Koreans to have test vehicles driven here. There was a Hundai test facility near where I use to work. There must have been about 30 of those cloaked vehicles coming and going from that facility all the time.

The xB will be made in the USA because why would they build it in Japan? New Camry's, FJ Cruisers, etc. are all built in the USA.... why?

Because they have no Japanese counterparts.

There is a completely different bB in Japan, which is nothing like what is coming here to the USA.

Just like basically every other foreign auto maker, like BMW, who make X5's, and Z4's in South Carolina because they don't exist in Germany.

The current xB is made in Japan for USA market only as is the tC. All the articles mentioning expansion of Toyota here have indicated that there was no plan to build Scions in the USA. The Scion is not a massed produced car as is the Camry, so there is not the big need to make it here. Again--all of the big foreign companys have design and/or testing facilities here in the USA regardless of where the cars are made.

Well, also Toyota just opened up a new plant, in which they're going to be assembling a "tall wagon".

All in all, it doesn't matter where it's going to be built, I just can't wait to see what the final product is.

There was a guy on here who worked at a Toyota plant in Canada which produces corollas, matrix, pontiac vibes, etc. who said in the coming months they would be producing a previously unreleased car from toyota...maybe a scion? Seeing as how the new models are said to use the corolla chassis it makes sense.

A Scion to be made inside the U.S.?? What appealed to me was the 100% Japanese factor of these cars(they love to advertise that in the newspaper ads in Puerto Rico), then one can claim they're JDM and show the sticker . They are fools to make a move like that, that's one more thing that make Scion unique from any other company, 100% JDM(minus the right hand drive).
