Default Toyota Aygo Coming to the States?

Toyota is thinking smart—smart as in offering it's own competitor to the tiny car from Germany.

Inside Line has gotten word that Toyota is developing a tiny 2-seat microcar, called the Aygo, to go head-to-head with the Smart car, and it will be offered for sale right here in the US of A, perhaps as early as 2008. If Toyota is jumping on the smart bandwagon, how long will it be before Honda, Nissan, Subaru, etc., all hitch a ride on the microcar express?

I'd buy an Aygo in a second. It looks great.

In Italy (well Europe) cars cost about 30% more than in the US
So I wouldn't find out the price of it in Europe and then convert to US currency

just FYI

I would think they would have to be priced UNDER the Yaris for it to sell in the same showroom.

that website rocks. It looks pretty hot with a body kit and the chrome exhaust tip coming out the middle of the tail end like that.

...might have to trade the box in

how's this for blowing your minds:

aygo european version specs...

1.0L gasoline - 68hp @6000rpm
3cylinder - yes - 3! hah
0-60 is..... 14.2sec...
oh yeah, I want to see Americans(no offense) adjusting to that

1.4L diesel - 54HP(wtf-ridiculous) - low power to increase MPG like crazy
