2005 Sunroof Exploded.
I was on my way to work, and my sunroof just exploded on me. Nothing hit it or anything like that.
I was wondering has this happened to anyone else? If so how much does it normally cost to replace it? Any DIY guides?

This does happen once in a while with tempered glass, I've seen it mostly with back glasses, but that's just because they are more common than sunroofs. What happens is before the tempering process if there is any imperfection in the glass, it will become a weak spot, and any time the glass can just shatter, unfortunately, there is no way of proving it, so I doubt warranty will cover it, see what your insurance says though.

this happen to the part of the sunroof that pops up the "visor" portion it just made a pop and shattered on my car. no other car on the road and i was on a over pass bridge. as for repairing your roof its pretty straight forward nothing complicated and finding a replacement glass is not bad either ebay has them for 100-150$ unless you have a low deductible mine was $500 so i didnt bother

There was a recall for this also. Here's the site: (http://www.lemonauto.com/complaints/scion/scion_tc.htm) It's towards the bottom.

that recall is for the wind deflector, not the center piece of glass that opens, which is what the OP sounds like he is describing.
I don't think that recall would help him, as that was to try and help with the shattering from something hitting the deflector at "high speeds". and you aren't supposed to have the sunroof open if you are going faster then 50 or 55 (?) anyway.
It would be a very hard thing to try and prove that the glass exploded for no reason or because a manufacturer defect.
