Default Aftermarket Lower Grille Keeps Falling Off! Doesn't snap in correctly...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...#ht_3705wt_824

I purchased this grille kit a while ago. The top piece stays in fine but the lower grille will not snap in correctly. I am not sure as to why this is, but I would really like this to be fixed because the grill stays in place for maybe 1-3 drives but then once in a while I will get out the car to see it disconnected, laying in the big hole area in the front of the car (in front of the radiator). I really just need some help/guidance to how to get this thing to stay and fit...

Typical of ebay. (not bashing, just saying) But I would try to get some black zip ties and zip it into place. Thats how a lot of grills on these cars actually end up staying. Or if you don't need to take it out anytime soon (or ever) super glue wouldn't hurt.

How did you install it? Did you take the bumper off to snap it into place or are you trying to do it while on the car?

I am trying to do it while the bumper is on the car. I just put the grille in place and pull toward me. It snaps into some of the clips but some of them don't fully snap in. It looks like it is the correct size, but I guess it is not. I just don't know exactly what I should cut, if I should be cutting something.

Take the bumper off (it's easy) and push it in from the inside.

rather than bash ebay products ,, yield advice to the problem!!!

i would take the bumper off very easy to do with a few hand tools and install it that way. you will be able to see exactly whats going on so you can better asses the situation. (maybe just a ziptie or two will help also)

Aren't those just exact copies of the original VRD's?

How exactly can you zip tie this? I would rather the zip ties not show. I don't feel like taking of my bumper!!! Maybe glue would work but where would I glue?

Well if you want something made with quality let me know. I have upper and lower authentic VRD grills literally in the original VRD box taped up ready to ship. Let me know

There are some small plastic tabs where the grill goes make sure none of those are broken. I had absolutely no problem with the vrd(like) grill I purchased on eBay 2 years ago. It even stays in place after my front end accident on my new bumper. Usually when these things don't stay in place it's because the tabs on the bumper are broken. When I installed my grill I took the bumper off so I could make sure the grill came of correctly and no tabs where broken during instalation of the grill.

Look, people, this isn't hard...

I have the exact same "knockoff" grilles... sure, the seller said they're VRDs, but I don't trust ____ on eBay.

TAKE THE BUMPER OFF. It takes some force but they snap in and hold just fine. Mine has never fallen out. If yours is, you're doing it wrong or have broken tabs.

If you don't feel like taking the bumper off and want to test one more method, if you can reach inside the engine bay all the way to the bottom grille, you can push it in from the inside. I've done it. There are some areas where you can reach your arm through.
