ive seen on a few DIY headlight baking threads that you need to scrape off the old sealant once its been baked and separated. to put them together again i think you use new silicone based sealant.

i think thatll work better than just squishing the old back together...it might have air leaks which lead to condensation build up at night or mornings after you turn off the lights.

yea he mentioned something about baking the headlights but i'm not gonna lie i'm pretty concerned about doing something like that, headlights seem fairly delicate and shoving them in the oven is like :-O i'll have to think about it.

Well, it's the proper method of taking them apart so meh! I would say that the lights inside the headlight housing gets hot enough so that the material they're made out of can withstand a certain amount of heat.

yea.. i decided not to bake it haha, not a fan of screwing with stuff like that. next time i go up there we will take out the light and see the distance and decide whether or not its possible to drill. if the gap is too big i'll focus attention on something else for now or figure something else to do, i've also considered drilling the bumper right under the headlight and do some accent LEDs like that but i'm not sure how that would look.

yea, i'm torn, it could look really sick if it comes out nice & clean because he's definitely got the tools to do it, but then again it could come out looking FUGLY so i'll have to see when it gets down to the wire like right before he drills it haha,

dude just bake your headlights, it really isnt a big deal

I know it seems scary I was so nervous when I baked open my old xB's heads but everything was fine. And you reuse the same selant, just squish em back together. Please do not try to just drill from behind the headlight, you will screw it up...

mm... alright i'll have to think some more, just out of curiosity so i can understand your point better, what makes you so sure drill will look cheap?

i know a guy who is practically an LED expert and he seems to think it will come out pretty clean

yea i realize that, "research" basically just look around at some stuff people did with drilling vs baking and drilling really isnt a big deal. like i said i wont make up my mind 100% until i get the LEDs so i'll post some pics when its done and all that great stuff.
