Default Aurora Garnish v2.0

Well folks, I'm back.

It's been a while since I've created anything custom and this time, instead of doing something new, I've decided to better perfect on of my original works.

I'm further along than the pictures indicate, but I don't have those uploaded just yet. I'll finish posting all the pictures when I'm done. Hopefully everything woks out the way I've visioned it in my head.

As always, I welcome any and all thoughts:

And after this point, I played around with some Acrylic sheets to do a somewhat R&D phase of the design process.

Then came the translucent resin. This was the first of many planned layers in order to get the thickness desired and provide a much more durable garnish piece. Currently, the garnish weighs significantly more than the OEM version.

One question I did have for you all...which do you think I should do, modify the OEM TBL to an additional reverse light (i.e. swap the LED's to white and tie into the reverse lights) OR extend the illuminated garnish so it covers the TBL location and does away with it all together.

Thoughts?

Well I'm at the point in the project where I can go either way. However, no turning back once a decision is made and I'm still trying to figure it out.

I am not really understanding what you are trying to do. It loooks like a garnish with a pane of fiberglass in it.

^^he's modifing it to be a replacement to the factory tbl by putting white LEDs in the existing tbl and making that into a new reverse light or making it an extra brake light... am i right Aurora?????

eitherway, it looks like it's going to be something really unique and cool once its all done!

^^ That's partially correct. I am modifying the garnish to illuminate.

Here's the Aurora Garnish v1.0:

*fewjative* - I'm further perfecting the garnish design pictured above, however I'm now at the point where I need to figure out what to do with the factory TBL (delete, or modify).

NB_tC06, thanks for the comment. Yeah, this one should come out really nice when it's completed. I guess when it comes down to it, if I modify the factory TBL, the tC will appear OEM looking at first glance. If I delete it, it will clean and flush the rear that much more.

so if you delete the tbl, you're going to make the garnish the tbl??? im not too sure if it would look right if thats what you're thinking of doing... what ever happened to your bentley continental roof tbl project???!?! if that was there, then the factory tbl should get deleted and just have the garnish illuminta similar to the v1.0... that would look a lot cleaner and more oem-ish looking IMO. keep us updated with photos!!

Yeah, the garnish is not going to be a tbl. The bentley continental roof tbl project is nearly finished so with that in mind, perhaps just the deletion is the way to go. Plus it would add more wiggle room behind the garnish. It should look pretty clean and flush. I was looking at 5Axis's tC (green one) and they took the tbl out too.

I'll definitely keep you posted w/ pictures. I'm out of commission this weekend so as soon as I can I'll post.
