AVS vs. Weathertech
#28
Yea...I heard all these great reviews on weathertechs so i got them. When I got them they fit into the channels great...but i gues a little to snug. The dang fitment is so tight that the window wont even close for the first few days. Issue being that its so tight that when my passanger window went up it broke the inner channel lip right off. Many people hear the "cracking" sound which i guess is normal and you have a 50/50 shot if they are going to literally break or not. And over the course of time my driver one became loose and started to not fit good at all and fall out of the channel...and this seems to be a common issue with weathertechs. look great at first but over time they either break nad/or start to sag. The biggest PITA is that the windows never seems to close for the first few days if not longer.

I'm willing to bet most of the Weathertech units broke because people were not following the installation instructions. You can't just slap them in their and go at it with the window switch. The way the seal is around the window it is very easy to pitch and I'm willing to bet people weren't paying attention and rolled the window up with the vent cover not properly seated which caused them to crack.
This is DramaLife so I can't say I'm surprised most people on here like the AVS, if it goes on it with tape it must be good. . .

Nah I followed the instructions man. It was seated perfect. My driver side had no issues. The issue is the way the channel lip is made. I called WeatherTech right up. They stated this was a common issue with their weathertechs as they make then to fit very tight and every now and then it will break due to the channel not being large enough to accommodate the visor. Either way, they sent me a replacement right away. It was good for a while until they began to sag and not stay in the channels correctly. O well.

I got neither brand. I picked up a set of MotorBlvd inchannel visors for $35 on eBay. MotorBlvd is the same guy that sells the Anzo tail lights hahah. I dent those things like crazy and they didn't break at all so I'm pretty happy with them.

I've had the WeatherTechs for four years now. The windows didn't like going up at first, but a couple days later they're fine. I don't have any cracking sounds or breakage (even have taken them out and reinstalled a couple times). This last year, the driver's side has started to slide down when bumped or rubbed (washing/waxing the car).
I'm happy with them. The price is kinda high, but mine were a gift so it's all gravy.

i've had my weathertechs for 2 yrs. dunno why there seems to be a lot of weathertech hate, but i've never had problems. they haven't flown off on freeways, no sagging, no breaking, no cracking sounds. i drove w/o them for a few days b/c i had lent them to a friend, and gawd did i miss them. the price is steep, but you gotta pay to play.

I've had weathertechs for 4 months now, no problems at all... Not sure what the other complaints about them are about.
