ballast won't turn on
i have looked a little and can't find a specific answer so i'm posting here...
please help or even just post a link so i can find my own answer.
ok so i have hid's in my fog lights and right around winter time when all the snow hit, the driver side light went out. about a week later it kicked back on for a day then it was out again. i did some research and found out that the ballast is supposed to hum when it's on. so i checked all the plugs and connections on both sides and checked to hear the hum. all connections were good, the driver side does not hum which led me to believe that the ballast was dead. i ordered a new one and installed it yesterday and i still have the same problem. i double checked my connections and everything is good, driver side still doesn't work. any ideas? any help at all??
i know, cool story bro, save it

no. just some ebay lights. it's not shocking they didn't last too long. i replaced it with a xentech ballast which i also got off ebay but they have a 2 year warranty and it was 15 bucks so what the hell why not?
no i haven't swapped the bulbs. that's why i'm posting. see, i said the ballast didn't hum so it clearly isn't getting power. but, i am a little sketchy on hid's and their workings to begin with, which is why i'm lost. would a bad bulb break the circuit and not let power go through? or am i missing something entirely? i'll swap the bulbs and check that though.
actually come to think of it...i was lightly kicking the bottom of the bumper to get the snow pack out and the next day the light didn't work. maybe i did damage the bulb. but still, the question stands, why isn't the ballast getting power? someone please shed a little light.

what kind of bulbs do you have? 9006 or H3? H3 bulbs need to be grounded properly. fog lights do have a wire harness, its the harness that plugs into the regular halogen bulb, or in this case, the ballast. you could try replacing that harness.

h3. i'll take a look at it tomorrow and see if they are grounded and maybe figure out a way to do so if they aren't. i could post some pictures if that will help. yeah i know what harness you are talking about. i think i know what you are saying, i'll look and see for sure.
